Sharing points with U.17 Kyrgyzstan, difficulties pile up for U.17 Vietnam

The Yemen team's 6-1 victory over Myanmar U.17 in the previous match made the Vietnamese U.17 players enter the match with a rather heavy mentality. During the first half, Coach Roland's students did not have any dangerous shots towards the opponent's goal. The attacks of the young Vietnamese players were easily broken by the Kyrgyzstan U.17 team from outside the 16m50 area.

On the contrary, despite having less possession of the ball due to their defensive counter-attacking style of play, the Kyrgyzstan U.17 team created two dangerous situations. In which, Nursultan Alisherov had a very good chance in the U.17 Vietnam penalty area in the 17th minute after the home team's defense made a mistake, but the player wearing the number 11 shirt did not finish well, otherwise the U.17 Vietnam team would have paid the price in this situation.

It can be seen that the U.17 Vietnam players did not maintain good team formation, leading to the lack of synchronization between the attacking and defensive support lines. Therefore, if they lose the ball in the middle of the field, U.17 Vietnam can easily face dangerous counterattacks from the U.17 Kyrgyzstan players.

In addition, the young Vietnamese players still revealed their inherent weakness in this match, despite the efforts of coach Roland to correct it, which is that the first-step passes were always wrong, causing the ball to fly too far, allowing the U.17 Kyrgyzstan players to easily intercept or block the ball successfully. This mistake is not due to the head coach but comes from the training process of the youth football "incubators" across the country today.

In the second half, the U.17 Vietnam team attacked and actively held the ball more, but the passes were still inaccurate at the decisive moment, leading to not being able to score a goal. In the 47th minute, Nguyen Luc fired the first shot for U.17 Vietnam but unfortunately the ball went wide. In the 57th minute, this player passed to Van Khanh to shoot directly in front of the goal but the ball went straight to the goalkeeper of the U.17 Kyrgyzstan team. This is also considered the most beautiful attacking combination of U.17 Vietnam since the beginning of the match.

In the 62nd minute, U.17 Kyrgyzstan almost opened the scoring when Zhanbolot Ormonov dribbled skillfully into the U.17 VN penalty area, luckily for the home team, this player shot wide. But just 2 minutes later, Van Duong fired a powerful shot from outside the penalty area, forcing the away team's goalkeeper to make a hard save. The most unfortunate situation for the U.17 VN team came in the 84th minute when Duc Duy had a great opportunity in the U.17 Kyrgyzstan penalty area, but his shot went wide of the goal. Not only that, striker Gia Bao (16 years old, playing for HAGL Club in V-League) continued to miss the opportunity to score in the 89th minute when he could not touch the ball in front of the opponent's empty goal from a cross from his teammate.

Without a win, both U.17 Vietnam and U.17 Kyrgyzstan will face difficulties in the upcoming matches when they have to face Yemen, which is too strong and has a very high goal difference.

Vietnam women's team successfully "collects debt"

Yesterday afternoon (October 23), the Vietnamese women's team won 2-0 against the Uzbekistan women's team in the opening match of the international friendly tournament held in Chongqing City (China). The two goals were scored by striker Nguyen Thi Tuyet Dung (minute 4) and Pham Hai Yen (minute 35). With this victory, coach Mai Duc Chung's team successfully "avenged" the debt, when they lost 0-1 to the Uzbekistan women's team in the Paris Olympic qualifiers in October 2023. Three full points on the opening day also helped the Vietnamese women's team temporarily rise to the top of the group in the tournament, while China (0 points, not yet played) ranked second, and Uzbekistan ranked last with 0 points and a goal difference of -2.

In the next match, the Vietnamese team will face a very strong opponent, the host China, at 6:35 p.m. on October 29. This will most likely be a match to compete for the championship of the tournament.
