Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy meets with voters, workers and laborers

On the afternoon of October 11, at the meeting between National Assembly deputies and workers before the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly, comrade Thai Thanh Quy, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, met with 200 voters, workers and laborers representing nearly 100,000 workers, laborers and union members of industrial parks in the province.

Giving opinions and recommendations on draft laws that are practically related to their interests, including the draft Law on Trade Unions and the draft Law on Employment, workers, laborers, and trade union officials request the National Assembly to consider increasing the initiative of trade unions in arranging staff and conducting supervision to improve operational efficiency; Consider removing obstacles in the policy of recruiting trade union officials to attract experienced and mature trade union officials from the grassroots.

Union members and workers also wish to borrow capital to support job creation with preferential interest rates; Request the National Assembly to have specific regulations to solve the problem of a group of workers having their unemployment insurance benefits suspended due to business dissolution, bankruptcy or business owners intentionally fleeing... Amend the law to allow workers to pay and receive unemployment benefits for voluntary insurance payment periods of over 144 months; Increase the unemployment benefit level from 60% to 75% (equal to the maximum pension level) to create conditions to support workers to have a minimum living standard when they lose their jobs or become unemployed.

Regarding other social issues, workers also had many opinions and recommendations such as: There should be policies to support workers in housing and kindergartens soon; There should be community health centers to serve workers in industrial parks; Reflecting that buying social housing is very difficult because the interest rate of the 120,000 billion VND credit package is too high.

Workers working in Bac Vinh, Vsip, and Nam Cam Industrial Parks also requested the Provincial People's Committee to direct competent authorities to pay attention to and strengthen food safety and hygiene management at food production, trading, and business establishments serving workers in industrial parks.

In particular, many workers expressed their hope that the provincial National Assembly delegation would propose an increase in the regional minimum wage in Nghe An. Workers also expressed concern about the poor compliance with the Labor Law and the Law on Occupational Safety and Health by some enterprises. The implementation of democratic regulations, case-by-case dialogue, and periodic dialogue has not been properly implemented by directors of enterprises.

With 20 opinions and recommendations raised by workers and laborers, representatives of leaders of Departments, branches, and Southeast Economic Zone have received, explained, and clarified.

Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy also directly directed the direction to resolve the recommendations and concerns of workers and laborers. These are issues of labor safety, social housing, cultural and sports facilities for workers and laborers. In the coming time, the province will pay attention and focus on these contents. Regarding the reflection of high interest rates on loans to buy social housing, the National Assembly delegation will receive and reflect them to the National Assembly and the Government for consideration. Even with the proposal to increase overtime pay for workers, the Head of the National Assembly delegation also committed to recommending the Provincial People's Committee to have a separate source of funding to promptly reward workers and laborers with outstanding achievements. The province will also closely coordinate with employers to take care of and best improve the regime for workers and laborers working in the province.

The Provincial Party Committee Secretary and Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor shared the circumstances of workers and their spouses who came to the Industrial Park from remote villages in the western districts of Nghe An, especially in difficult circumstances, low income, and inadequate welfare infrastructure, forcing them to leave their children at home.
