Politburo member and Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee Chen Jining and Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen jointly congratulated Vietjet on its new route.
Vietjet's Shanghai - Ho Chi Minh City route will begin operations on December 1, 2023, with 7 round-trip flights per week. With a flight time of just over 4 hours per leg, these flights meet the travel needs of residents, tourists, and businesspeople between Shanghai and Ho Chi Minh City with convenient travel times and competitive fares.
Shanghai is the most populous city in China, and one of the four municipalities directly under the central government of the world's second-largest economy. Shanghai is a leading economic and financial center not only of China but also of the world.
In 2022, Shanghai's GDP reached 4.465 trillion yuan (US$663 billion), with a population of 24.76 million. The flight route connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Shanghai, the fifth-ranked city with the most billionaires in the world, will also open up more opportunities for developing high-end products and services, connecting trade, and attracting investment.
Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City, with a population of nearly 9 million, is a prominent economic, cultural, and tourism center of Vietnam and the region, boasting unique cultural features, a bustling modern lifestyle, and convenient connections to destinations throughout Vietnam and internationally.
The Shanghai-Ho Chi Minh City route, launched in anticipation of the 74th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China (1950-2024) and the 30th anniversary of sister city relations (1994-2024), is expected to become a significant milestone in further developing trade, cultural, educational, and people-to-people exchanges between the two cities, countries, and peoples.
Vietjet has been operating flights between Vietnam and China since 2014, with the first routes bringing Chinese citizens and tourists to top tourist destinations in Vietnam such as Nha Trang, Da Nang, and Phu Quoc…
To celebrate this significant event, Vietjet is launching a major promotional campaign with super-discounted fares for customers traveling to these two cities!
The new route will not only connect Shanghai with Ho Chi Minh City but will also further expand Vietjet's flight network to cover Vietnam, Australia, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Kazakhstan… and beyond.
