On the afternoon of April 15, speaking at the 39th meeting of the 11th Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen said that cultural and artistic activities in Ho Chi Minh City have recently seen many improvements, especially towards the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification. In particular, he mentioned the film Tunnels: Sun in the Dark.

Mr. Nen thinks that the film is "hot", has record revenue, has a positive effect on society, and has a diverse audience, especially young people, which is very exciting.

According to Mr. Nen, what is worth pondering is that this film was not invested in by the State, but was made by a group of filmmakers and sponsors.

He suggested that relevant sectors think, research, and have policies to attract all social resources to develop the literature and arts of Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition, the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee said that normally films about history and war are invested by the State, but Tunnels: Sun in the Dark has a different approach.

Filmmakers may have initially been concerned about the response, but the film has now gone viral. Industries need to study this aspect of outreach to develop policies to promote it.

As of April 15, after 10 days of official release, the revenue of Tunnels: Sun in the Dark is 133 billion VND (according to Box Office Vietnam).
