Ha Giang - a frontier land in transformation

Ha Giang is one of the leading provinces of the country, holding an important strategic position in terms of security and defense, and is home to more than 20 ethnic groups with a rich cultural treasure and strong identity. Along with that are significant challenges in terms of infrastructure, terrain, climate and the poverty rate is still high, especially in mountainous districts such as Dong Van, Meo Vac, Hoang Su Phi, Xin Man, etc.

In recent years, Ha Giang has made strong efforts to develop with a series of specific policies, developing the economy in the direction of exploiting local potential associated with preserving national culture and protecting the ecological environment. The province pays special attention to agricultural economy, developing OCOP products associated with specialty raw material areas such as: Shan Tuyet tea, Bac Quang oranges, Dong Van mint honey, Gia Dui rice... At the same time, Ha Giang is gradually promoting regional linkages, expanding border gate economy, upgrading trade and tourism infrastructure, investing in industrial parks and clusters and logistics services.

“Ha Giang is a locality with both a border trade economy, industrial parks, national border gates, and specific socio-economic models, industrial parks, border gate economic zones, etc. in many fields managed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Therefore, we really hope that the Industry and Trade Newspaper, the mouthpiece of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, will continue to pay attention and deeply and promptly reflect the province's effective models and practices to spread to domestic and international friends,” Secretary Hau A Lenh expressed.

In recent years, Ha Giang has achieved many outstanding achievements in socio-economic development. In 2024, the province's economic growth rate is estimated at 6.05%, higher than the 2.85% increase in 2023. The total product in the whole province at current prices is 35,822 billion VND. The total average income per capita is estimated at 30.7 million VND/person, an increase of 1.7 million VND over the same period in 2023.

The remarkable results above are the efforts of the government and people of Ha Giang province. In the development process of Ha Giang, tourism is also a bright spot and is interested, invested and focused on in the economic development of the province. Specifically, in 2024, the number of tourists to Ha Giang is estimated at 3.286 million, an increase of 8.8% compared to 2023, reaching 102.6% of the plan. Total tourism revenue reached 8,149 billion VND, an increase of 15% compared to 2023.

These results demonstrate the continuous efforts of Ha Giang province in effectively implementing socio-economic development policies, while affirming the important role of information and propaganda work in promoting local development.
