With the desire to build a united, safe, and developed residential area, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Secretary of Party Branch 1 of Mai Dong Ward (Hoang Mai District), has undertaken many practical actions in environmental sanitation and fire prevention and control.

He is a good role model, encouraging people to work together to preserve a bright, green, clean, and beautiful environment.

Passionate about environmental sanitation.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung only assumed the role of Secretary of Party Branch 1 of Mai Dong Ward at the beginning of 2025. However, he is well-known and respected by many because ever since he moved here (in 2021), he has participated in many activities to build and develop the local area.

One of the notable contributions of Mr. Hung and the local people is the renovation and maintenance of the self-managed section of road – a lush green wall of flowers and plants along alley 254/7 Mai Dong. This model had been implemented before, but people still frequently parked their motorbikes there, making the area look unsightly and unattractive. With his straightforward nature and sense of responsibility as a Party member, Mr. Hung, along with neighborhood committee officials and women's association officials, went directly to each house to persuade residents not to park their motorbikes in this area. At the same time, he actively worked with the people to socialize the project, adding more hanging baskets of plants on the wall and potted plants on the ground to create a beautiful green wall. Seeing the positive changes in the landscape, the people were very pleased and wholeheartedly maintained the plants, watering and caring for them daily, and no one parked motorbikes obstructing the alley anymore.

Passionate about environmental work, at the beginning of 2025, when the People's Committee of Mai Dong ward organized a campaign to clean up the environment "protect and preserve the Kim Ngưu river," launched the "Bright - Green - Clean - Beautiful" emulation movement, and implemented the "Clean House - Green Alley" skillful public mobilization competition, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung responded very actively.

In addition to maintaining environmental hygiene in the residential area, Party Branch 1 was also assigned by the Mai Dong Ward Party Committee to be responsible for maintaining a section of the right bank of the Kim Ngưu River. For more than three months, every day the local people have seen the Secretary of Party Branch 1 arrive very early to sweep and clean the riverbank area that Party Branch 1 is responsible for.

Nguyen Thi Hoa, head of residential group No. 1 in Mai Dong ward, said: “Comrade Nguyen Manh Hung is very enthusiastic, perceptive, and deeply involved in the area. He quickly grasps the work and performs his role and responsibilities very well. He regularly inspects and supervises residential group leaders and guides residents in maintaining security, order, and environmental hygiene. His dynamism and responsibility have boosted the movements of Party Branch No. 1, bringing joy to the people.”

Emphasis on fire safety and prevention.

In Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung's house, along the staircase and on each floor, there are up to 20 fire extinguishers and other fire prevention and firefighting equipment. He said that when his house was still in Vinh Tuy ward (Hai Ba Trung district), he was both a local official and the head of the ward's Fire Prevention and Fighting Team. Therefore, he has extensive experience and skills in fire prevention and firefighting. When he moved to his current residence, he sought sponsorship and donated hundreds of smoke masks to households; at the same time, he provided fire extinguishers for people to practice and directly instructed many residents on how to use them.

Locals still remember that previously, a power pole near Mr. Hung's house unfortunately caught fire due to a short circuit. Upon hearing the news, Mr. Hung quickly brought his family's fire extinguishers and, along with other residents, helped put out the fire before the fire trucks arrived. The fire was extinguished, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief because this was a narrow alley, making it difficult for fire trucks to access the scene. If the fire had spread from the power pole, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

Mr. Hung said that what he was pleased about was the Mai Dong ward's strong commitment to fire prevention and control. Residential areas 1 and 2 (belonging to Party Branch 1) have been equipped with 16 public fire hydrants, complete with fire fighting equipment such as hammers, pliers, and crowbars. The awareness of fire prevention and control among residents has also improved. Currently, all households in the area have at least one fire extinguisher. However, Mr. Hung aims to have two fire extinguishers per household by 2025.

Mr. Hung is also well-liked by the local people because he cares deeply about their well-being. During holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year), he often mobilizes and invites philanthropists to donate gifts to disadvantaged households and those in special circumstances in the area.

Dang Thi Thanh Binh, Secretary of the Party Committee of Mai Dong Ward (Hoang Mai District), shared: “Comrade Hung is a typical example in the ward, representing many ‘beautiful flowers’ with extremely simple actions, close to the people and bringing good values ​​to the community. As a grassroots official, in addition to the general work of the residential area, he is also diligent, every morning he joins Party members and people in the residential area to clean the right bank of the Kim Ngưu River, so by the time the sun rises, the road is already clean. At 10:30 PM every day, he regularly patrols with the local security team, checking and reminding people about fire prevention and control, cleaning up garbage piles and unsanitary areas to ensure the residential area is always clean.”

With a sense of responsibility and a dedication to the community, Comrade Hung is loved and trusted by the people, which is why the tasks implemented by the Party branch and residential area always achieve good results, fostering unity and strength.
