In implementing Directive No. 05-CT/TW of the Politburo on promoting the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality, and style, many exemplary collectives and individuals have emerged in Thanh Hoa City with concrete actions that not only have a profound and widespread impact on social life but also contribute to the development of their homeland. Mr. Nguyen Van Thin, secretary of the Party branch of Hamlet 3, Thieu Van commune, is one such example.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thin, Party branch secretary of Hamlet 3, Thieu Van commune - a prime example in studying and following President Ho Chi Minh's teachings.
Born in the rural area of Thieu Van, 39 years ago, young Nguyen Van Thin enlisted in the army and directly participated in the 81-day and 81-night battle to defend the ancient citadel of Quang Tri, contributing to the immortal epic of revolutionary heroism. After the war ended, in 1977, Mr. Thin returned to his hometown and worked at the People's Committee of Thieu Van commune. During his nearly nine years at the People's Committee, he held various positions. Regardless of his role, he always performed his duties well. In 1985, Mr. Thin retired from the People's Committee of Thieu Van commune to enjoy a peaceful life with his family. Even so, with the qualities of a soldier of Uncle Ho's army and the spirit of a Party member, he enthusiastically participated in the emulation movements launched by the local authorities. His dedication to the common good of the village earned him the trust and affection of officials, Party members, and the people. Therefore, in 1987, Mr. Thin was trusted by the party members in the Party branch of Hamlet 3 to be elected as the branch secretary. In his capacity as branch secretary, he not only demonstrated a high sense of responsibility and dedication to his work, but also directly propagated and mobilized the people to actively participate in labor and production emulation, develop the economy , and work together to build a model new rural area.
Accompanying Mr. Thin on a tour of the model new rural area, what we easily noticed was the well-organized construction of the village. Mr. Thin enthusiastically shared: “Unity is a beautiful tradition of our nation. The spirit of unity has been passed down by our ancestors through the folk saying: ‘One tree alone cannot make a mountain, but three trees together can make a high mountain.’ Summarizing the tradition of national unity into a timeless truth, President Ho Chi Minh clearly affirmed: ‘Unity, unity, great unity; Success, success, great success.’ Bearing in mind Uncle Ho’s teachings, the village Party branch always promotes the spirit of unity among cadres, Party members, and the people to build an increasingly prosperous and beautiful homeland. It is this spirit of unity that has enabled Village 3 to undergo such a transformation today.”
Village 3 has 149 households with 561 inhabitants and a village Party branch with 11 members. To gain the trust and consensus of the people, the Party branch always upholds the spirit of "doing everything that benefits the people and avoiding everything that harms the people." At the same time, it emphasizes the responsibility of cadres and Party members to set an example, leading the way and earning the people's trust and following suit in areas such as economic development, environmental sanitation, building a cultural life in the residential area, and jointly developing infrastructure.
In early 2021, after being selected by the Party Committee and the government of Thieu Van commune to lead the model new rural development project, the village Party branch issued a thematic resolution on model new rural development. To put the resolution into practice and successfully implement the model new rural development project, Mr. Thin, along with his colleagues in the Party committee, discussed and agreed on a policy to mobilize the people's resources to repair and renovate the village cultural house and expand the roads. At the same time, he personally, along with the heads of the village's political organizations, went to each household to explain the purpose and significance of building a model new rural village. Through this persuasion and explanation, the people of Village 3 unanimously responded, voluntarily contributing over 1.1 billion VND to renovate the cultural house, expand the main village road, install drainage ditches and a lighting system, and reinforce 1.8 km of the main internal agricultural road, ensuring convenient year-round transportation for the people.
Furthermore, Mr. Thin, along with the village leadership team, actively encouraged residents to diversify their crop and livestock structures, especially land consolidation, to develop high-yield, high-quality rice farming areas. Currently, the rice grown in Village 3, Thieu Van Commune, has traceable origins, ensuring food safety and adaptability to climate change. In particular, the village Party branch, in coordination with the Commune Farmers' Association, has encouraged residents to develop production, business, and aquaculture models that comply with environmental regulations. As a result, the village currently has 11 production and business establishments that meet environmental standards, causing no noise, dust, or pollution to the surrounding environment. Thanks to the strong development of production, trade, and services, the lives of the people in Village 3 have improved, with an average per capita income of 69.53 million VND per year.
According to the assessment of the Party Committee and the People's Committee of Thieu Van commune, by the end of 2022, Hamlet 3 had completed 14 out of 14 criteria for a model new rural hamlet. This achievement is the result of the efforts of the officials, Party members, and people of Hamlet 3, including the significant contribution of Mr. Thin. With a high sense of responsibility and dedication to community work, it is believed that Mr. Thin will continue to unite and inspire the people to make Hamlet 3 a truly livable place.
