At the 2023 Good Car, Good Driver Contest from Brigade level, Department level to Military Region level, Vo Ngoc Anh achieved perfect scores and won first prize.

We met Senior Lieutenant Vo Ngoc Anh, under the scorching sun, his clothes soaked with sweat, his face smeared with grease as he was taking care of the KMAZ 2WD vehicle, which was used in the recent competition. This vehicle is considered his child, not only helping Ngoc Anh win first prize at the competition but also being used on all roads to transport people, goods, and weapons for many years.

When asked about memories of the contest, Senior Lieutenant Vo Ngoc Anh smiled and shared: "Of the 3 contest contents, perhaps the driving practice part is the most difficult for drivers, especially those who are new to the profession. To complete this content well, drivers must be well prepared in terms of courage, skills and driving level to ensure time and avoid making mistakes such as: Vehicle stalling, wheel pressing on the line, vehicle hitting a pole...".

Senior Lieutenant Vo Ngoc Anh is maintaining and repairing vehicles at the unit.

Although it was so difficult, what was the secret that helped Ngoc Anh overcome it so well? “My secret is to always practice actively, try my best, master the knowledge, and never be satisfied. For the theoretical part of the exam, questions about the Road Traffic Law, with many different multiple choice questions, I had to take advantage of the evening to study and memorize the situations, master the nature of the questions to answer correctly,” Ngoc Anh shared.

Talking to us, Major Nguyen Van Phong, Battalion Commander of Battalion 2, Mixed Transport Brigade 654, said: “Senior Lieutenant Vo Ngoc Anh is a driver and transport platoon leader. Over the years, Ngoc Anh has not only participated in competitions and won high prizes, but has always completed all assigned tasks and responsibilities well. In his daily work, Ngoc Anh is diligent, hard-working, eager to learn; has a high sense of responsibility; and lives in harmony with everyone. When assigning any task, Ngoc Anh always thinks and discusses carefully with his colleagues, so the quality of work is always good. Some comrades with weak driving and repair skills are always trained and mentored by Ngoc Anh to improve more and more”.

In 2010, Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Ngoc Anh worked at Battalion 2, Mixed Transport Brigade 654, a campaign-level transport unit of Military Region 4. Here, he had the opportunity to come into contact with many new vehicle models and types, and the soldier's love for vehicles began to blossom.

Whenever he is assigned any type of vehicle, he wholeheartedly takes care of, maintains, and repairs it. Although he has no specialized training in repair, with a spirit of eagerness to learn, he has researched and mastered the operating principles, advantages, and disadvantages of each vehicle line and engine type. Most of the vehicles assigned to him, whether simple or complex in design, good or degraded in quality, are carefully cared for and maintained by Ngoc Anh, ensuring they are “clean inside and shiny outside”, ready to go on a mission when ordered.

There are shipments that go at night, when it rains and is slippery, driving long distances is tiring, these are real challenges for the driver, he has to stop many times along the way, partly because he is not familiar with the road, partly because he is careful and always stays alert when steering the wheel... Despite the difficulties, Ngoc Anh always completes all assigned tasks excellently, ensuring absolute safety for people and vehicles.

With the results achieved, Senior Lieutenant Vo Ngoc Anh has been awarded the title of Emulation Fighter at the grassroots level for 6 years and has been awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Minister of National Defense twice.
