Statements related to Son Tung M-TP cause controversy
At the Monsoon Music Festival press conference held on May 9, musician Quoc Trung also shared about Son Tung M-TP's "American advancement" when he just released a new music product entirely in English.
Singer Son Tung M-TP
"The market in developed countries is very competitive, requiring great professionalism. I'm not talking about talent, I'm just talking about the techniques, processes, and preparations to have a performance abroad that you in Vietnam don't even know, let alone being able to organize.
Because you have to create a real demand for your art products in that new market before you can penetrate that market. This requires long-term and sustainable preparation."
Musician Quoc Trung gives an example of Kpop having existed for a long time but also recently entering the US market.
However, he believes that to achieve this, it is not the effort of a few artists but requires the long-term efforts of an entire related ecosystem such as: organizers, government policies, support from large corporations...
Meanwhile, most of the young artists that Quoc Trung has met, he has noticed something very worrying. That is, they do not even have the desire to go to the international market, do not know where to start, who to contact, what to prepare... And often fall into a state of "using such projects to show off".
"It's already difficult to penetrate a normal international music market, let alone penetrate large markets like the US and UK.
Artists from Thailand and Singapore have surpassed our music market for many years but still have not been able to "advance to the US". Vietnamese artists cannot fall from Mars and think they can do it," the musician shared.
The male musician's statement immediately received mixed reactions. While some audiences agreed, some people thought he was imposing and "putting down" his juniors.
"He said it so well. He didn't just say it to be sarcastic, reading the analysis part, it makes so much sense", "If there are no people who dare to do and try, where will the next generation get the experience? Even if they fail, the next generation will know what needs to be done. If you can't do it, please don't be jealous"... are some comments from the audience.

Musician Quoc Trung speaks out
In response to mixed public reactions, musician Quoc Trung spoke out: "One of the important goals that Monsoon Music Festival has been aiming for from the beginning is to motivate and enhance the creativity of Vietnamese artists, especially young artists.
Besides creating opportunities for them to interact, connect and introduce their products to international artists and producers - we also have many seminars for international speakers to exchange experiences in finding opportunities to enter the foreign market for Vietnamese artists.
Monsoon has always been a playground for young artists, those who have the ambition to bring their music to the world. That is not only my dream, the dream of Monsoon Music Festival but also the dream of Vietnamese artists and audiences.
As someone who always supports young artists and finds opportunities for them to appear in public, I will certainly never "put down" the younger generation in the profession, especially when each artist has their own path."
