On the eve of Earth Day (April 22), the special documentary “Secrets of the Penguins” will be released, bringing with it the cold breath of Antarctica and the warmth of love for nature.

More than just a film, this is a living symphony about the power of survival, courage and indomitable beauty of wild nature.

The film is narrated by famous explorer Bertie Gregory, with the emotional voiceover of actress Blake Lively, promising to touch the hearts of every audience.

Spanning more than two years of production, “Secrets of the Penguins” is the result of tenacity and courage, with filming taking place from Cape Town (South Africa), the Galapagos Islands, to the Ekström ice shelf in Antarctica – home to about 20,000 emperor penguins.

During 274 days living in the bitter cold of Antarctica, Bertie Gregory not only witnessed but also recorded moments never before published in the history of animal documentary filming.

One of the most memorable scenes is the moment when the young penguins, upon reaching adulthood, risked their lives by jumping from a 15-meter high ice cliff into the cold ocean to begin their independent lives.

“As soon as the first one jumped down... the whole flock followed,” Gregory said emotionally. “It was a magical moment that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.”

According to him, it was a small action, but it contained all the power of instinct and a strong will to survive.

Emperor penguins are the only species on Earth that raise their young in the middle of the Antarctic winter – the coldest, darkest, most blizzard-ridden place. And despite having filmed them many times, Gregory admits: “I thought I understood them. But I was completely wrong.”

The new discoveries in “Secrets of the Penguins” not only provide a unique perspective on the iconic polar bird, but also evoke a profound environmental message.

“We don’t just protect penguins because they are cute or inspiring, but because their survival reflects the health of natural ecosystems – on which humans themselves depend,” Gregory stressed.

At just 31 years old, Bertie Gregory has already won two Daytime Emmy Awards for his series "Animals Up Close with Bertie Gregory" and won the prestigious BAFTA for "Seven Worlds, One Planet."

His latest series about penguins, consisting of three episodes, will be released on Disney+ on April 21 and air on Nat Geo Wild from April 22, just in time for Earth Day./.
