According to the investigation of PV.VietNamNet , after the article: "The Western oil and gas giant was forced to pay more than 1,100 billion VND in taxes" was published, Nam Song Hau Petroleum Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company (located in Chau Thanh district, Hau Giang province) officially spoke up.

Nam Song Hau Petroleum Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company said that in the tax debt of more than VND 1,100 billion mentioned above, nearly VND 300 billion is late payment fines arising during the difficult period of the Covid-19 pandemic, the rest is environmental protection tax (nearly VND 700 billion) and other taxes.

This enterprise committed to implementing many feasible solutions to fulfill tax obligations as soon as possible, no later than June 30.

In the press release, the company also said that in previous years (including during the Covid-19 pandemic), the company always fulfilled its tax obligations to the state early, such as paying 1,775 billion VND in 2021; paying 1,224 billion VND in 2022, and paying more than 800 billion VND in 2023.

“In 2022 alone, despite the high fluctuations in world oil prices, the company still ensures sufficient supply of oil for the Mekong Delta region (more than 1 million tons). In particular, when prices increase, we still have to maintain operations, not to interrupt supply; and have to sell oil at a selling price lower than the purchase price according to the State's direction for the common good, to ensure social security and local economic development,” the document stated.

As reported, the Tax Department of Hau Giang province has just issued a decision to enforce tax collection by stopping the use of invoices for Nam Song Hau Petroleum Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company.

The reason for the enforcement is because this enterprise has tax arrears that exceed the prescribed 90 days. The amount of money being enforced is more than 1,100 billion VND.

Nam Song Hau Petroleum Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company is a large petroleum enterprise in the West, currently having many branches in Can Tho, Hau Giang, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu... This is one of nearly 40 large petroleum import and export business hubs in the country.

In addition to the petroleum sector, this enterprise also operates in a number of other fields such as restaurants, hotels, agriculture and aquaculture.

For the same reason, in mid-December 2023, the Can Tho City Tax Department issued a decision to enforce tax by stopping the use of invoices for the branch of Nam Song Hau Petroleum Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company in Can Tho (at Lot 2.7, Tra Noc Industrial Park, O Mon District, Can Tho City). The amount of money to be enforced is more than 92 billion VND.

Recently, many oil and gas giants have incurred huge debts, have been forced to pay taxes, and their leaders have been banned from leaving the country.

At the end of December 2023, the Nghe An Provincial Tax Department announced that it had just sent a notice of temporary suspension of exit for Ms. Chu Thi Thanh, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Thien Minh Duc Group Joint Stock Company to the Immigration Department (Ministry of Public Security), because this enterprise has not fulfilled its tax payment obligations to the State.

It is known that Thien Minh Duc enterprise - a petroleum giant in the North Central region - owes more than 728 billion VND in taxes and is being forced to stop using invoices from July 2023 to July 2024.

Previously, in September, the Thai Binh Provincial Tax Department also sent a notice to the Immigration Department regarding the temporary suspension of exit for Ms. Tran Tuyet Mai (62 years old, residing in Diem Dien Town, Thai Thuy District, Thai Binh) due to tax debt issues. Ms. Mai is the legal representative of Hai Ha Waterway Transport Company Limited (abbreviated as Hai Ha Company - with the same address as Ms. Mai's residence). Ms. Mai's Hai Ha Enterprise is also a major hub in the import and export of petroleum nationwide.
