According to the family, while fishing, Mr. T. caught a perch, and when he accidentally opened his mouth, the fish suddenly jumped out of his hand, fell into his mouth, and went down his throat.
Family members tried everything to remove it, but because the fish had gills and hard fins that hooked into the throat, it got stuck there, causing more severe damage and heavy bleeding to the patient's throat.
Doctors quickly assessed the foreign object, the extent of the injury, and its location to determine the appropriate course of action. They then removed the fish from the patient's throat and performed an endoscopic examination of the wound.
The foreign object, a perch fish, caused severe throat damage to the patient.

After the fish was removed, the patient experienced significant throat damage and was unable to swallow due to pain. The doctor administered intravenous fluids, painkillers, and medication to stop the bleeding, allowing for gradual recovery. Only then was the patient able to eat and swallow soft foods. After 3 days of treatment, the patient recovered.
Dr. Nguyen Hoang Quy, Head of the Ear, Nose, and Throat Department at Giong Rieng District Medical Center, said that patients with foreign objects causing throat injuries (like Mr. T., whose throat was injured by a fish) should eat soft foods and avoid hot foods after being discharged from the hospital to help the wound heal quickly.
