(GLO)- Gia Lai Provincial Social Insurance (BHXH) has just issued Document No. 940/BHXH-QLT-ST on instructions for collecting health insurance (HI) for students in the 2023-2024 school year.
Accordingly, the participants are students studying at educational institutions in the province, except for students with valid health insurance cards in other subjects. Specifically: The health insurance contribution for students is equal to 4.5% of the basic salary prescribed by the state at the time of payment (1,800,000 VND). Of which, students pay 70%, the state budget supports 30%.
Thus, the health insurance premium for students is 4.5% x 1,800,000 VND x 12 months = 972,000 VND/year. Because the State budget has supported 30% of the premium, the actual amount students pay is 680,400 VND/year.
For ethnic minority students (not supported 100% by the state budget for health insurance premiums), in addition to the central budget supporting 30%, the local budget supports an additional 30% of the health insurance premiums according to Resolution No. 48/2022/NQ-HDND of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Council, students pay 40%.

Regarding payment method, students can register to pay for 3 months, 6 months, or 12 months. For first graders and first-year students, they can pay for 13, 14, or 15 months at once.
Validity period of student health insurance card: Health insurance card is newly issued or renewed annually for students of general education institutions. For grade 1 students, health insurance card is valid from October 1st of the first year of primary school; for grade 12 students, health insurance card is valid until September 30th, 2023.
Health insurance cards for students of universities and vocational training institutions are issued annually and are valid from the date of admission (for first-year students) to the end month of the course (for final-year students).
Gia Lai Social Insurance encourages parents and students to register, install and use the VssID-Social Insurance Digital application to facilitate information tracking and lookup; use the utilities of the application, especially the use of the health insurance card image on the application for medical examination and treatment instead of paper health insurance cards, helping to save time, not worrying about losing or forgetting the health insurance card when needed.
