108 Central Military Hospital recalls fake milk, refunds patients

Since yesterday (April 16), information has appeared on social networks that the 108 Military Central Hospital has recalled Hofumil Gold Plus milk - a type of milk that is on the list of suspected counterfeit milk brands that the Ministry of Public Security has just cracked down on. The hospital will recall and refund patients who purchased the milk during their treatment at the hospital.

According to information shared on Ms. TBL's personal page, patients and their families should bring the intact or opened milk carton, along with their ID card, payment documents upon discharge, and a detailed list of items and prices to pharmacy number 1 for resolution. If there are any health-related problems after consuming the milk, please report them directly there.

Speaking with reporters of CAND Newspaper on the afternoon of April 17, Major General, Professor, Dr. Le Huu Song, Director of 108 Central Military Hospital, confirmed that the above information was correct.

According to Major General Le Huu Song, for Hofumil Gold Plus milk, the hospital conducted an open bidding. To win the bid, the product's documents must be complete, from origin, license, to test certificates for safety and quality indicators, as well as food safety certificates...

“The hospital is a victim of the market. So as soon as it discovered that Hofumil Gold Plus milk was on the list of fake milk powders that the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency had just cracked down on, the hospital took steps to recall the fake milk. The recall was carried out by calling discharged patients, notifying patients currently being treated at the hospital... to recall and refund the money spent on the milk,” said Major General Le Huu Song.

According to the Director of the 108 Military Central Hospital, Hofumil Gold Plus milk was introduced to the hospital in March 2025. The company distributing the powdered milk will refund the money to the patients. At the same time, the hospital also announced that if any patient has health problems after drinking the milk, they should immediately notify the hospital for treatment.

Explaining further why patients must buy Hofumil Gold Plus milk, Major General Le Huu Song said that Hofumil Gold Plus milk is a form of nutritional supplement for patients. In treatment, patients must receive comprehensive treatment, including rehabilitation combined with nutrition. Nutritional supplements for patients are recommended, but patients are not required to buy that type of milk.

According to the Investigation Agency, up to now, the fake milk powder line produced by Rance Pharma Company and Hacofood Group Company has produced 573 brands of various types of milk powder. The milk is for people with diabetes, kidney failure, premature babies, premature babies and pregnant women. The ingredients declared in the products are bird's nest extract, cordyceps, macca powder, walnut powder... but in reality, these substances are completely absent. The subjects have discarded some input materials and replaced them with some additives.

The police determined that the quality indicators of some substances in the powdered milk were below 70% of the announced level, enough to be identified as counterfeit goods.
