On November 23, Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital celebrated its 120th anniversary (1903-2023) and received the Third Class Labor Medal.

Attending the event were comrades: Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, former Vice President; Le Thanh Liem, Head of the City Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee; Duong Anh Duc, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Vo Duc Chien, Director of Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital, said that the hospital was established in 1903, originally a medical station providing free treatment to the Chinese community. In 1919, the station was built on a larger scale under the name of Quang Dong Medical Hospital, operating as a private hospital until after the country was completely liberated.
In 1978, Quang Dong Hospital was publicized according to the Government's policy and was later renamed Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital. To date, Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital is one of the first-class general hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City. Each year, the hospital examines an average of nearly 600,000 outpatients and receives and treats nearly 50,000 inpatients.
Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital, with its strengths in treating internal and surgical neurology, endocrinology, orthopedics, digestion, blood filtration, kidney dialysis, etc., has attracted many patients in the city and other provinces.

“Over the past 120 years, especially the last 20 years, Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital has always been proactive in developing, innovating, building a modern and advanced hospital with many facilities and specialized centers, improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, aiming to reach high international standards, accessing difficult medical techniques and new techniques in the world,” informed Dr. Vo Duc Chien.
At the same time, it was said that throughout the development process over the past 120 years, Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital has always promoted the spirit of humanity "leaving no one behind, not refusing to treat any patient, especially patients in difficult circumstances". Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital has soon formed an ecosystem to support patients in difficult circumstances and organized activities to support essential living, spiritual support, booths to share love, charity trips... have brought necessary support to many patients.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Duong Anh Duc assessed that throughout the 120-year development process, through many historical ups and downs, Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital has both been a witness to the times and actively participated in social life, making its modest contribution to health care for people from all walks of life.
According to Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Duong Anh Duc, Ho Chi Minh City has entered the recovery phase after the Covid-19 pandemic but also has to face many threats from epidemics, natural disasters, climate change and war...
“The medical staff of Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital in particular and the entire health sector of Ho Chi Minh City in general need to focus on improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, training human resources towards developing high-tech medical care, specialized techniques, approaching international standards to meet the medical examination and treatment needs of domestic and foreign patients,” Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Duong Anh Duc emphasized.
On this occasion, the Red Cross Society of Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital was honored to receive the Third Class Labor Medal from the President; Emulation Flag from the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. In addition, many other collectives and individuals of the hospital were also commended and encouraged by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society and the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
