DNVN – On July 1, Viet An Eye Hospital in Da Nang celebrated its first year of official operation with outstanding professional achievements, contributing significantly to the fight against blindness for people in the city and neighboring localities.
Outstanding professional achievements
Established on June 21, 2023 under Decision 344/QD-BYT of the Ministry of Health, Viet An Eye Hospital Da Nang officially came into operation from July 1, 2023 with spacious facilities, the most modern medical equipment in the Central Highlands; a team of experienced doctors; a team of leading experts in the field of phaco surgery, refractive surgery; a team of professional, friendly and attentive staff.
Viet An Eye Hospital Da Nang is the first unit in the Central region to perform phakic surgery to treat refractive errors and surgery to treat presbyopia.
Dr. Huynh Quoc Vu - Professional Director of Vietnam Eye Hospital Da Nang said that although there are still many difficulties and challenges, after a year of opening, all doctors, medical staff and employees have made efforts and united to make Viet An Eye Hospital Da Nang a reliable address for people in the area and neighboring areas to choose when needing care and treatment of eye diseases.
Specifically, in the past year, Viet An Eye Hospital has examined about 11,000 people; performed nearly 2,000 surgeries (including over 1,600 phaco surgeries; about 200 laser surgeries to treat refractive errors (femto, smile, phakic) and some other surgeries). In particular, Viet An Eye Hospital Da Nang is the first unit in the Central region to perform phakic surgery to treat refractive errors and surgery to treat presbyopia.
Contribute to preventing blindness for people
“In addition to professional activities at the hospital, we have implemented humanitarian medical examination and treatment, screening and free medicine distribution in many places in Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, especially in areas where people do not have access to modern medical services,” added Mr. Tran Huu Long - Director of Viet An Da Nang Eye Hospital Joint Stock Company.
Accordingly, in the past year, Viet An Eye Hospital in Da Nang has provided free medical examinations and screenings at the hospital for about 400 people; organized more than 40 humanitarian medical examinations and treatments for over 7,000 people in the areas of Hoa Vang district, Lien Chieu district, Son Tra district, Cam Le district (Da Nang city); Duy Xuyen district, Tien Phuoc district, Hoi An city (Quang Nam province) with a total cost of about 500 million VND.
During these humanitarian medical examinations, the medical team of Viet An Da Nang Eye Hospital also combined propaganda and education for people on measures to maintain eye health, early detection of diseases for timely treatment. Thereby contributing to limiting blindness due to lack of knowledge and lack of access to medical services.
Over the past year, Viet An Eye Hospital in Da Nang organized more than 40 humanitarian medical examination and treatment sessions for over 7,000 people in difficult areas in Da Nang, Quang Nam, and Quang Ngai.
In addition, Viet An Eye Hospital also provides free eye screening for officials, employees, and workers at many agencies, associations, and businesses in Da Nang and Quang Nam (High Court in Da Nang, High People's Procuracy in Da Nang, Danafish Joint Stock Company, Da Nang Urban Environment Company, Saint Paul's Sisters...).
“It can be said that the efforts of Viet An Eye Hospital in Da Nang over the past year have contributed significantly to the fight against blindness, helping people in the city and neighboring provinces experience professional, high-quality medical services. Although we are still young and have a long way to go, we always take the patient as the center of our service, taking the joy from the light of the patient's eyes as our own joy and happiness,” said Mr. Tran Huu Long.

Accordingly, in the coming time, Viet An Eye Hospital Da Nang will promote in-depth training, improve professional capacity for young doctors; provide specialized training for 50% of the nursing team; regularly update communication and behavioral skills for hospital staff; organize periodic scientific activities.
At the same time, we constantly consolidate, improve and enhance technical and professional processes; enhance the quality of professional support function exploration, improve the quality of diagnosis, focus on improving hospital quality and especially enhance humanitarian medical examination and treatment activities.
