Dr. Nguyen Hoang Hai, Director of Gia Dinh People's Hospital, said that achieving the "Silver Certification" for heart failure treatment from the American Heart Association demonstrates the efforts of doctors and medical staff in gradually approaching world-class treatment standards.
According to Dr. Hai, the heart failure unit model has proven its role in the care and treatment of heart failure patients, including those with reduced ejection fraction. A notable benefit of this model is the optimization of medical treatment for heart failure based on recommended medication types and dosages, thereby improving symptoms and reducing readmissions. Currently in Vietnam, many tertiary healthcare facilities are implementing this type of centralized heart failure care.
In this context, the Department of Cardiology at Gia Dinh People's Hospital has established and implemented a heart failure treatment unit with the aim of providing comprehensive care and optimizing treatment for this important group of patients.
Representatives from Gia Dinh People's Hospital receive the certificate.
The American Heart Association (AHA) is one of the leading organizations in providing recommendations and guidelines for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The AHA's Heart Failure Treatment Standard Certification program is being expanded to improve the quality of heart failure treatment for patients. The standards for AHA certification are very strict, including ensuring a high percentage of heart failure patients adhere to their medication, undergo clinical tests, receive post-discharge follow-up assessments, and are regularly updated on their health status. These criteria must be met for at least 85% of heart failure patients and maintained for at least 90 consecutive days. If this result is maintained for 12 months, Silver Plus certification is awarded, and Gold Plus certification is granted if the results are maintained for 24 months or more in heart failure treatment.
