On December 11, Gia Dinh People's Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, received the Gold Certification in heart failure treatment from the American Heart Association. This is the first general hospital in our country to receive this prestigious certification.

At the certificate receiving ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Hai, Director of Gia Dinh People's Hospital, shared: "Receiving the Gold plus award from the American Heart Association (AHA) is an important milestone in the treatment and management of heart failure patients in particular, and in the development journey of the cardiovascular specialty in general of Gia Dinh People's Hospital. The ultimate goal is to bring the best treatment results to patients.
Besides the field of cardiology, the hospital also focuses on developing many specialized departments that meet strict domestic and international standards.
The criteria for receiving certification from the American Heart Association are very strict, the diagnosis must be accurate, the patient must be scheduled for follow-up visits and full monitoring, the rate of use of drugs proven to improve the prognosis for patients with heart failure must be very high, over 85%, and especially the time of participation and meeting these criteria must be continuous for at least 2 years.
These certificates are classified as Bronze - Silver - Gold, Gold plus. Previously, Gia Dinh People's Hospital received bronze and silver awards.

According to Dr. Le Hoai Nam, Deputy Head of the Department of Cardiology, Gia Dinh People's Hospital, heart failure is the final consequence in a series of cardiovascular diseases, from common diseases such as high blood pressure, heart valve disease, coronary artery disease... to complex diseases such as myocarditis, congenital heart disease, autoimmune diseases...
About 1-2% of the world's population lives with heart failure. In Vietnam, although there are no official figures, it is estimated that there are about 320,000 to 1.6 million people with heart failure.
