On April 4 and 5, Binh Dan Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City organized a Science and Technology Conference with the theme: "Connecting international surgical experts".
The conference was attended by 32 experts, surgeons and professors from leading medical universities and hospitals in the US, France, Belgium, Australia, Japan, Korea and more than 200 domestic reporters.
Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Vinh Hung - Director of Binh Dan Hospital - said that in 2014 (in Germany) the hospital approached robotic surgery techniques and from the end of 2016 the hospital implemented the first robotic surgery on adults in Vietnam.
To date, the hospital has performed surgery on 15 types of diseases, mainly cancer and other complex diseases. After 9 years, the hospital has performed surgery using robots on over 3,500 cases.
In 2024 alone, the hospital performed nearly 700 surgeries using robots. In 2022, Vietnam will be on the world map of robotic surgery.

Associate Professor, Dr. Tang Chi Thuong - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health - said that Binh Dan Hospital is the cradle of the surgical profession in Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces.
Over the past 70 years of establishment and development, the hospital has continuously pioneered surgical techniques, from early open surgery to laparoscopic surgery and robotic surgery along with other advanced treatment methods.
Currently, Binh Dan Hospital is a specialized surgical hospital, leading in digestive surgery, urology, andrology, anesthesia and resuscitation and related specialties.
The conference once again affirmed Binh Dan Hospital's position in the surgical sector, as well as its capacity for extensive international connectivity and cooperation.
At the same time, it clearly shows the development trend of the city's high-tech medical model. The participation and reporting of leading professors and doctors from advanced medical centers around the world is proof of this.
Over the past years, the city's healthcare system has made breakthroughs with the establishment of many specialized hospitals, the strong development of high-tech medicine and innovation in healthcare management.
All are aimed at building Ho Chi Minh City into a health center of the ASEAN region.
