On October 2, in Hanoi, K Hospital and Merck Healthcare LLC signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation in the treatment and care of cancer patients.
At the event, Mr. Le Van Quang, Director of K Hospital, said that it is estimated that each year, Vietnam has more than 18,000 new cases and about 120,000 deaths from cancer.
Treatment for cancer patients is increasingly advanced and effective with advanced techniques and new drugs, but the cost is very high.
Therefore, the signing of cooperation in cancer treatment aims to realize the availability of better drugs and higher technology to treat patients.
At the signing ceremony, the leaders of K Hospital also hoped that Merck Healthcare Company Limited would support testing reagents and commit to reducing drug prices so that cancer patients have more opportunities to access many types of treatment drugs.
Meanwhile, a representative of Merck Healthcare said that the company will try to create better policies so that Vietnamese cancer patients can increasingly access more treatment drugs, in the near future through price negotiations, helping to reduce drug prices and supporting testing biological products so that patients can receive the best possible treatment.
