
Nestled in the middle of bustling Ma May Street (Hanoi), the ancient house number 87 surprises visitors with its remaining historical values. This house was built around the end of the 19th century on a total land area of 157.6m2, more than 28m long, with a frontage of 5m.

The house was renovated in late 1998 and completed on October 27, 1999 with a tubular design, multi-purpose, narrow in width but long and deep inside, separated by layers of yards.

Outside is the shop, without walls but open to the street for displaying goods. Inside is a separate yard, next is the back house, warehouse and kitchen.

All architectural structures, wooden building materials, and household items are kept intact. In February 2004, Ma May ancient house was granted a National Heritage certificate.

This is one of 14 ancient houses in Hanoi that still retains its almost intact structure and has been preserved and become a tourist attraction, with an entrance fee of 10,000 VND/person.

Estella (in blue, a tourist from France) said she is passionate about classical architecture. About a week ago, the female tourist had the opportunity to visit Hoi An and was very impressed by its ancient features. "Returning to Hanoi, I searched for the keywords "ancient houses", "temples" and was suggested to come to this place. It is not too difficult to find here. The architecture here is similar to the houses in Hoi An, very beautiful and full of culture", Estella said.

Kim Giang (24 years old) visited the ancient house. "The house is very quiet. I have passed by Ma May street many times but this is the first time I set foot here to explore. It feels very familiar and also full of nostalgia, like finding a peaceful place in the middle of a bustling city," Giang said.

Recently, thanks to the experience introductions of young people, many historical attractions have become known and interested by everyone.

Houses with ancient architecture are becoming check-in spots visited and explored by many young people.
