Ben Tre: Stirring up clip of nanny violently stuffing food into children

On April 18, speaking with Thanh Nien reporter, Ms. La Thi Thuy, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ben Tre, said that after the direction of the department, the Department of Education and Training of Ba Tri district inspected and had an initial report on the clip of a nanny brutally stuffing food into children that is spreading on social networks, causing public outrage.

According to the report, on April 16, the Department of Education and Training of Ba Tri District discovered a clip circulating on social media showing a nanny not being calm, acting impatiently and not in control when feeding children. The incident was determined to have occurred at the Thu Suong preschool group facility (An Binh neighborhood, Tiem Tom town, Ba Tri district, Ben Tre).

Immediately afterwards, the Ben Tre Department of Education and Training directed the Department of Education and Training of Ba Tri District to coordinate with the People's Committee of Tiem Tom Town to inspect and handle the incident.

On April 17, the People's Committee of Tiem Tom Town decided to establish a team to inspect the conditions for implementing professional regulations at Thu Suong preschool group. The inspection team is led by the Vice Chairman of Tiem Tom Town People's Committee; the Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Ba Tri District is the deputy head of the team; members include experts from the Department of Education and Training, leaders of Tiem Tom Town Kindergarten, social and cultural officials, Chief of Tiem Tom Town Police, civil servants of war invalids and social affairs, and Head of An Binh Ward.

Upon inspection, the owner of the facility admitted that the image in the clip was of a cooking staff at Thu Suong kindergarten. The incident occurred around the beginning of April 2025. On April 16, the clip was posted on social media.

According to the report, the owner of the facility admitted that the reason for the incident was because the children had poor appetite, so the staff had forced food onto about 3 children aged 1 to 2 years old. After the incident was spread on social media, the owner of the facility and the staff went to the families of the 3 children to apologize for their actions.

Currently, Thu Suong preschool group has a total of 54 children. The inspection team found that Thu Suong preschool group has signs of violating professional regulations, not ensuring the physical and mental safety of children in the activities of nurturing, caring for and educating children according to regulations.

Pursuant to regulations on investment and operation in the field of education, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Tom Shop has decided to temporarily suspend the operation of Thu Suong preschool group and await further handling.

Regarding the arrangement of 54 children in Thu Suong class during the suspension period, the Department of Education and Training of Ben Tre requested the Department of Education and Training of Ba Tri district to coordinate with local authorities to discuss and reach an agreement with the children's families to transfer the children to study at other schools, groups, and classes in Tiem Tom town and kindergartens in neighboring communes, in the spirit of creating all conditions for the children to be nurtured, cared for, and educated in the best way and for parents to feel secure when sending their children.
