Ben Tre Province and Ho Chi Minh City have just signed a cooperation agreement to develop eco-tourism. Currently, dozens of investors have committed to cooperate in developing river tourism projects and tourism combined with visiting historical and cultural relics in Ben Tre.
On the morning of December 27, the People's Committee of Ben Tre province coordinated with the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to organize a conference to promote investment cooperation in the tourism sector between the two localities in 2023 and the following years.
At the Conference, Ben Tre province introduced and called for investment in 23 tourism projects, expected to be implemented in Ba Tri, Binh Dai and Cho Lach districts in the period of 2023-2025.
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ben Tre, there are currently a number of investors in Ho Chi Minh City interested in and proposing cooperation with 5/23 projects calling for investment, including the following projects: Bung Lac Dia Eco-tourism and Resort Area in Phu Le Commune, Ba Tri District; Eco-tourism and Resort Project in Thua Duc Commune, Binh Dai District; Binh Trung Islet Tourism Project in Dinh Trung Commune, Binh Dai District; Cai Ga Islet Tourism Project in Long Thoi Commune, Cho Lach District; Cultural Tourism Village Coordination Center Project - K26 Rest Stop in Phu Son Commune, Cho Lach District.
Also at the Conference, representatives of 17 enterprises and investors from Ho Chi Minh City and Ben Tre signed a memorandum of understanding with the leaders of Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee on investment and cooperation in tourism development in Ben Tre province in the coming time.

On the local side, Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Muoi, Vice Chairman of Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee, said that in recent times, in addition to implementing the Government's preferential investment policies, the locality has also had many mechanisms and policies to support tourism development such as investing in upgrading transport infrastructure, supporting site clearance and land procedures; creating favorable conditions to help investors quickly access planning information, projects, and works; guiding investors to conduct field surveys and access project locations, etc.
Regarding financial incentives, Ben Tre province is currently implementing preferential policies according to the regulations of the Central Government, including incentives on corporate income tax. Specifically, businesses investing in the tourism sector in the locality will enjoy a corporate income tax incentive of 10% applied for the first 15 years, exemption for 4 years and a 50% reduction in tax payable for the next 9 years.
It is known that Ben Tre is the 22nd province in the country and the 7th locality in the Mekong Delta region to have its Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister.
Regarding tourism development planning, up to now, the whole province has about 50 tourist areas and sightseeing and experience destinations with over 90 accommodation facilities qualified to serve tourists, 30 projects are investing in the tourism sector with a total investment of over 3,000 billion VND. Total revenue from tourism grows by an average of 22-25%/year.
In the coming time, Ben Tre tourism industry will develop in the direction of strong investment in humanistic tourism projects associated with historical revolutionary relic sites; eco-tourism to become the center of garden eco-tourism in the region, aiming to become an "affordable" tourism center in the Mekong Delta.
