Belarus summoned the Polish charge d'affaires to protest Warsaw's repeated violations of its border.
"Polish Charge d'Affaires to Belarus Marcin Wojciechowski has been summoned," the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said on November 3. Belarus "strongly protests the violation of the state border on November 2 and demands that Poland thoroughly investigate and take effective measures to prevent such incidents from recurring."
According to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, Poland's careless attitude in conducting flights in the border area is "unacceptable".
The move came after Valery Revenko, head of the Belarusian Defense Ministry's international military cooperation department, said a Polish light aircraft on patrol on November 2 "crossed the border several times, going 200 meters deep into the territory" of that country.
"Since the beginning of September, Poland has carried out five such airspace violations," Mr. Revenko wrote on X, describing the move as "going to the brink."
The Polish Ministry of Defense has not commented on the information. Belarus has repeatedly accused Poland of violating its territory, but Warsaw has denied it.
Relations between the two neighbors, which have been frozen for years, have continued to deteriorate since Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko allowed Russia to use its territory for an operation in Ukraine in 2022.
Poland has been one of Ukraine's most ardent supporters since the outbreak of hostilities and is one of Kiev's main arms suppliers.
Belarus also hosted gunmen from the private military company Wagner after a failed uprising in Russia in late June. Wagner has participated in a number of training and exercises with the Belarusian army on the border, causing Poland and neighboring countries to consider it a "security threat".
