The announcement on the website of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reads: “On November 3, the Charge d’Affaires of the Republic of Poland to the Republic of Belarus, Mr. Martin Wojciechowski, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During the meeting, the Polish diplomat was informed of the firm position of protest regarding the violation of the state border of the Republic of Belarus by a plane from the Republic of Poland on November 2.”
Belarus demands a thorough investigation into the incident and effective measures to prevent similar cases in the future.
The Belarusian Foreign Ministry statement also criticized “the careless attitude towards flight operations in the border area is unacceptable.”
Currently, Poland has not responded to the above incident.
Belarus has repeatedly accused Polish aircraft of violating its airspace, a claim denied by Warsaw. Most recently, on September 28, Belarus accused a Polish helicopter of violating its airspace and said it had deployed military aircraft in response to Warsaw's actions.
The Belarusian Foreign Ministry also summoned Polish Charge d'Affaires Martin Wojciechowski to protest the incident.
Meanwhile, Warsaw confirmed that no helicopter crossed the border between the two countries.
Relations between the two countries, which have been frozen for years, have continued to deteriorate since Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko allowed Russia to use its territory for a military campaign in Ukraine.
Poland has been one of Ukraine's most ardent supporters since the outbreak of hostilities in February 2022 and is one of Kiev's main arms suppliers.
