According to doctors, although the pregnancy was unplanned, Ms. VTTH (35 years old, Vinh Phuc ) had a safe pregnancy and a successful delivery under the close supervision of doctors at Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital.
The intrauterine device (IUD) is located outside the amniotic sac and does not affect fetal development. The surgery was performed by Dr. Tran Ngoc Dinh, head of the D5 voluntary department at the hospital.
Intrauterine devices (IUDs) are a popular method of contraception, but they are not foolproof. Many factors can reduce their effectiveness, such as the IUD shifting, becoming damaged, or health problems in the woman.
Statistics show that pregnancies resulting from the use of an intrauterine device (IUD) occur in approximately 2-8 out of 10,000 cases worldwide . However, not all cases result in a safe pregnancy, and some may lead to complications.
Doctors advise that each contraceptive method has its own advantages and disadvantages. To choose the optimal contraceptive method that best suits your health condition, women should visit a specialized hospital for consultation with a doctor.
For intrauterine devices (IUDs), after insertion, women need to have follow-up appointments after 1 week and 1 month to re-establish the IUD's position. Leaving the IUD past its expiration date or causing it to become displaced can lead to dangers, complications, or pelvic infections.
