Episode 105 of the Vietnamese Family Home program , hosted by MC Quyen Linh. This week's guests are singer Lam Vu and actress Than Thuy Ha, who will join forces to help three disadvantaged people: Mai Phuong Anh, Tran Thi Thao Nguyen and Tram Minh Kheo. They are all having to overcome harsh challenges after losing their loved ones.
Heartbreaking story of two orphaned girls, having to live away from their mother due to difficult circumstances
Mai Phuong Anh (2012), a student at Thanh Duc Secondary School, Long Ho District, Vinh Long Province. Phuong Anh's father passed away after a long period of treatment for stomach cancer when she was only 1 year old. Since her father fell ill, her mother, Minh Thu (1985), has had to shoulder the family's burden and take care of her children alone, which is extremely difficult.
In order to have a stable income, Ms. Minh Thu had to leave home to go to Ho Chi Minh City to work as a garment worker and send money home every month. Therefore, Phuong Anh and her sister Mai Tran Bao Chau (2008) live together in a small house in the countryside. The family of 4 members now has only 2 sisters taking care of each other when their mother goes to work far away. Because they have to go to school all day, their meals are taken care of by their grandmother who lives nearby. After school, the sisters eat together, share housework and help each other study.
Phuong Anh's grandmother, Mrs. Hoa (born 1962), is mainly a housewife and takes care of her grandfather who has a stroke and has difficulty walking. In addition, her family also has to take care of her uncle who has schizophrenia and is bedridden, requiring someone to take care of all his daily activities. Every month, Mrs. Hoa receives a disability allowance of 720,000 VND from her uncle and a support allowance of 360,000 VND for patient care. Despite her old age and frequent aches and pains, she still tries to work for hire to earn extra money to help her daughter-in-law take care of her grandchildren.
Every month, Phuong Anh's mother sends home 2 million VND for Mrs. Hoa to take care of the whole family. All the burdens placed on her shoulders make Phuong Anh and her sisters extremely heartbroken. "Every time I go to the city to visit my mother, I see that she has to work until 11-12 pm before coming home to rest. My mother works a lot so it's very hard, I love my mother very much. I'm very afraid that my mother will also lose me like my father. I want my two sisters to go to school so that later on I can earn money to support my grandfather, my uncle and so that my mother can come back to live near us," Phuong Anh confided.
Seeing her mother and grandmother working so hard, her older sister Bao Chau also wanted to quit school early to work as a factory worker to earn money. She said that when the family had nothing to eat and was so hungry, she thought of many other people who were in more difficult situations than her, so she told herself that it was okay to go hungry for 1-2 days. From then on, she tried to study hard so that her family would not have to go hungry in the future. The understanding child's thoughts made MC Quyen Linh extremely impressed. The male MC also expressed his sadness when seeing the image of Mrs. Hoa, who was over 60 years old, having to work for hire, taking care of a sick relative and cooking for two young children. In particular, seeing the two girls orphaned at an early age, now having to live far away from their mother due to family circumstances, lacking both material things and family affection made him choke up.
Witnessing what the two orphaned girls went through, actress Than Thuy Ha was moved to tears. However, she also admired the will and determination of Phuong Anh and her sisters. “Although they are in difficult circumstances, they always have positive thoughts, which is good for them. Their lives are not as fortunate as their peers, but because of this situation, they have a lot of determination, they use themselves as a support and have more will to strive. I hope that you will always be persistent, and must try to study, do not drop out of school because studying is the only way to get a job to have enough money to fulfill your wish to support your grandmother, mother and uncle ,” the actress shared.
Girl in mourning for relatives 3 times in a row in nearly 2 years
Tran Thi Thao Nguyen (2011), is a student at Ngo Quoc Tri Secondary School, Vi Thuy District, Hau Giang Province. Thao Nguyen's father passed away in 2020 due to lung cancer. The pain had not yet subsided when in 2021, her mother suddenly passed away due to heart disease. The pain was compounded by the pain when less than a month later, she had to mourn her grandmother. It seemed that the tears of the 13-year-old child had also dried up due to the continuous passing of her most beloved loved ones.
Thao Nguyen confided: “In my eyes, my mother is the best woman. Although she doesn’t talk much, I know that she always loves me the most and always does the best for me. My biggest regret is not being able to see my parents for the last time because my father died in the hospital, and when my mother was dying, I was still in school. But I promise that no matter what the circumstances, I will not drop out of school because my mother’s biggest dream is to see me finish my education . ”
Currently, Thao Nguyen is living alone in the old house left by her parents. The house is in disrepair as the foundation has sunk heavily. Every month, she receives an orphan allowance of 540,000 VND. After her parents passed away, although she was very shocked, Thao Nguyen had to try hard to continue living on her own. She takes care of her studies and daily activities. Her aunt Vo Thi Ngoc Sang, who lives next door, often comes to advise and take care of her. However, because her aunt also has a difficult life and has to take care of her own family, she cannot live with her. After school, she goes to the market to help her aunt sell vegetables, and her aunt cooks for her every day.
Seeing Thao Nguyen orphaned at an early age, lacking both material and spiritual things and having to live alone in an old house made everyone choke up. MC Quyen Linh felt both pity and admiration for Thao Nguyen's courage when seeing her determination to rise up. The orphan's promise not to drop out of school moved the male MC.
Singer Lam Vu gave many words of encouragement to Thao Nguyen. The lack of parental love in the face of her great pain made the male singer have many concerns. He worried about Thao Nguyen's future when she had to face a difficult life alone. Actress Than Thuy Ha hugged little Thao Nguyen, moved to tears because she felt sorry for the girl who was alone and in need. The actress thanked Nguyen's aunt because despite the family's many hardships, she did not leave her niece alone. She also expressed her admiration for Thao Nguyen's will to overcome difficulties and determination to study to fulfill her mother's wishes.
Father died, mother left, leaving an orphan boy to depend on his uncle.
Tram Minh Kheo (2011), a student at An Thanh Nam Secondary School, Cu Lao Dung District, Soc Trang Province. Minh Kheo is of Khmer ethnicity. His mother left when he was in kindergarten. When Minh Kheo was in 2nd grade, his father died of liver disease. He is currently living with his uncle, Tram Sonl (1988).
Mr. Sonl is working as a shrimp catcher for hire. His income is 150,000 VND/pond, catching 1-2 ponds a day. However, because the work is irregular, Mr. Sonl's income is also unstable. Not only that, the job requires Mr. Sonl to often soak in water, wade through mud, causing his feet to become sore, and he has to regularly apply medicine to help them heal quickly. On days when he has no work or runs out of money, Minh Kheo and his uncle go fishing, catching snails or picking vegetables to get by.
“If I can’t catch fish or shrimp, I go pick lemongrass, chop it, and then fry it to make it a little salty to eat with rice. For me, meals like that are delicious and make me happy, just eating is enough. My family now has only two uncles and nephews, my uncle is working so I stay home to help him with housework. Even though I no longer have parents, I don’t feel sad because I know that I still have my uncle, and I still have rice to eat, which is still luckier than many of my friends. I love my uncle very much because he raised me since I was little, I see him as both my father and mother,” Minh Kheo said.
Minh Kheo and his uncle are living in the house left by his grandparents, built more than 20 years ago. Up to now, the house is old and degraded in many places. On rainy days, the house leaks a lot, and on sunny days it is extremely hot. Minh Kheo only wishes to have money to buy a fan so that he can study more comfortably. Loving his orphaned nephew, Sonl does not dare to get married because he is afraid that his wife will not love Minh Kheo. He wants his nephew to have a good education and a stable job before he dares to think about his own happiness. Minh Kheo also tries hard to study, wanting to become an electrical engineer in the future so that he can earn money to repay his uncle for taking care of him for so long.
Minh Kheo's understanding when talking about his uncle, as well as his clear dream for the future, made the three artists somewhat reassured. MC Quyen Linh gave words of encouragement and believed that Minh Kheo's efforts and determination would help him realize his dream.
Following the circumstances, singer Lam Vu admired the spirit of overcoming, the will to never give up and always move forward of the children. In particular, despite the hardships of life, the children still have dreams, always maintain the determination to strive to realize their dreams of changing their lives, making the male singer admire them even more. He believes that each person has their own value, and through their efforts to overcome, they will help the children succeed.
Actress Than Thuy Ha was touched by Sonl's sacrifice of his own happiness when he decided not to get married to take care of his nephew. The gratitude of the children when they want to have a job and earn money to show their gratitude to their mother, grandmother or uncle is something that left a strong impression on the actress.
Than Thuy Ha said that she herself is a "hardcore fan" of the program Mai Am Gia Dinh Viet . And every time she watches the program, she has to hide in her room and close the door to watch alone because she doesn't want her children to see her cry. For the actress, Mai Am Gia Dinh Viet is a very humane and meaningful program. She is very happy and excited to be invited to participate in the program, and promises to try her best in the challenges to bring meaningful gifts to the orphans.
To be able to win priority for 3 families and reach the logo drawing round, 2 guests and 3 children will overcome the program's challenges. Within 3 minutes of the sub-competition, singer Lam Vu will perform, combining the whistle blowing instead of speaking to suggest to actress Than Thuy Ha to guess the keyword. With the "light hints" of MC Quyen Linh, the two guest artists quickly completed the challenge, making the audience extremely excited.
In the main competition, singer Lam Vu and actress Than Thuy Ha will coordinate with the children to perform the challenge of throwing the ball into the basket. Accordingly, the players will take the ball at the starting line, jump over large barrels to the finish line and throw the ball into the basket. In the end, although exhausted, the two artists confidently affirmed that no matter how difficult the challenge is, they will still try their best, because the important thing that the guests aim for when accepting to participate in Mai Am Gia Dinh Viet is to contribute to bringing home the prize money to help orphans improve their lives.
After the rounds, Tram Minh Kheo's family received a prize of 15 million VND. Mai Phuong Anh 's family came in second, receiving 20 million VND. Tran Thi Thao Nguyen's family continued to enter the special round, winning 3 logo boards with a prize of 60 million VND.
In addition, singer Lam Vu also gave a special gift to Thao Nguyen. Actress Than Thuy Ha gave each family 5 million VND. The sponsors came to watch and directly gave the families a total of more than 56 million VND in cash. In addition, seeing that Minh Kheo's house was seriously degraded, the sponsor Hoa Sen Group, Ms. Thanh, a sponsor, and two guest artists joined hands to contribute money to rebuild a new house so that the two uncles and nephews could have a decent place to live. Thus, with the support of MC Quyen Linh, singer Lam Vu and actress Than Thuy Ha, along with the best efforts of the three families, they brought home a total prize of 95 million VND from Hoa Sen Group along with many meaningful gifts.
