On July 21, information from Bai Chay Hospital (Quang Ninh) said that the hospital is treating a patient BVH (3 years old, residing in Ky Thuong commune, Ha Long city) who was admitted with a wound on his right hand.
X-ray images show that the child's hand injury is very serious.
According to information from the patient's family, at 6 p.m. on July 16, while playing at home, H. was unfortunately cut by a vegetable cutter on the second and third fingers of his right hand. After the accident, the patient bled profusely from his right hand, and was given first aid by his family using a rolled-up cloth and taken to the hospital.
Upon admission to the hospital, doctors at the hospital examined the crushed wound, revealing the cartilage and bone, missing the 2nd and 3rd phalanges of fingers II and III of the right hand; and the wound on finger VI of the right hand. Meanwhile, the X-ray results showed that the patient had lost the bones of the 2nd and 3rd phalanges of fingers II and III of the right hand.
The child was diagnosed by doctors with a crushed wound that lost the second and third phalanges of the right hand. Surgery was indicated to create a stump of the second finger and fix the extensor tendons of the third and fourth fingers.
After nearly 1 hour, the doctors cleaned the wound, performed surgery to create a stump on finger II, and fixed the tendons of fingers III and IV. Currently, the patient's health is stable.
From the unfortunate accident above, the doctor at Bai Chay Hospital recommends that people who are using vegetable cutting machines and cutters should be careful when using them, especially keep them out of reach of children and store them carefully so that children do not play with them, to avoid unfortunate consequences.
