Recently, the Voluntary Gynecology Examination Department of Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital announced that it had received a 5-year-old child (Son La) who came to the clinic with symptoms of genital pain and foul-smelling discharge for about a month. The family took the child to several medical facilities for examination and was prescribed antibiotics, but the treatment did not improve.

When questioned by her family, the child said that she had inserted a foreign object into her vagina while at school. Afterwards, her family took her to the Voluntary Gynecology Examination Department - Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital for examination.

After a clinical examination, the doctor discovered a foreign object inside the baby's vagina. The doctors removed the object in the department's operating room. After the procedure, the baby was stable and returned home the same day.

Through the above case, the doctor recommends that parents clean the girl's private area daily, and advise the girl not to put anything into the vagina. If abnormalities are detected, the child should be taken to the nearest specialized medical facility to avoid serious consequences such as vaginitis and adnexitis in children.
