In recent days, locals and tourists were surprised when five giant hands appeared along the beach of Hai Tien tourist area (Hoang Hoa district, Thanh Hoa).

Surprised by 5 hands appearing on Hai Tien beach

According to the reporter's records, on the afternoon of April 4, along the nearly 1 km long beach in the communes of Hoang Tien and Hoang Thanh (Hoang Hoa district), many workers were plastering to complete the hands.

Along the beach of Hai Tien beach resort, 5 giant hands suddenly appeared.

There are a total of 5 hands along the beach made of reinforced concrete that are in the process of being completed. Each hand is about 4m high (including the concrete base), with a wrist so big that an adult cannot hug it.

"For several weeks now, construction workers have been coming to make molds and pour concrete for the foundation pillars, then pour the wrists. Next, they transported pre-cast five-fingered hands to install on the pillars. I don't know what they intend to do, but I see that the area where the hands are placed is the most crowded place for beachgoers, while the hands are made of concrete, if not careful, beachgoers can easily bump into them," said a local resident.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tu, Director of the Hoang Hoa District Investment and Construction Project Management Board (the unit assigned to manage and implement the project), said that the construction item of the hands is actually a watchtower for tourists bathing in the sea, but the shape of the hands was chosen.

"The project is invested by Hoang Hoa District People's Committee, and is under the decision-making authority of Hoang Hoa District People's Committee, so there is no need to ask for opinions from Thanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The construction of the watchtowers (hands - PV) started about a month ago and is now complete. Before choosing the shape of a hand to make the watchtowers, we also consulted the watchtower models in many tourist areas and decided to choose the shape of a hand," said Mr. Tu.

Mr. Tu also added that the main purpose of the hand-shaped watchtowers is to watch over and observe tourists swimming in the sea so that they can promptly assist and rescue them in case of any unexpected problems. In addition, it creates a new landscape for tourists to take pictures with the hands.

However, many people believe that the concrete hands growing in the beach area not only pose a potential danger to tourists if they are hit, but also affect the landscape and natural beauty of Hai Tien beach - a tourist area that has been developing and attracting visitors in recent years.

Below are some photos Thanh Nien reporters recorded on the afternoon of April 4:

There are a total of 5 concrete and steel platforms built along the beach, nearly 1 km long.

The masons are plastering the outer surface of the hands.

Each hand structure is about 4 m high (including the concrete base), located nearly 10 m from the foot of the sea dike.

When looking at the whole beach, it feels very stuffy because of the large hands stretching along the bathing area.

The foundations of the hands are made of concrete, in many places the concrete blocks protrude, which is very dangerous if visitors bathe near this area.

The hand structure is a watchtower for tourists when they swim in the sea, detecting swimmers in danger to promptly support and rescue them.
