According to the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department, Pham Thai Mai Huong impersonated an officer working at the Government Inspectorate, having relationships with many central agencies and the police. From there, Huong boasted that she could intervene in cases where victims were defrauded of their property. In case the victim wanted to get their property back, she had to give Huong a bribe, then Huong took possession of the victim's property.

Using the above tricks, Huong has appropriated more than 10 billion VND from many people in many provinces and cities across the country and from Ms. T. (residing in Da Lat city, Lam Dong province).

Currently, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department is continuing to expand the investigation, awaiting handling according to legal regulations.

Regarding the above incident, Ho Chi Minh City Police call on anyone who is a victim of Huong to come to PC02 Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police or contact Major Phan Van Tu, Deputy Head of the Major Crimes Team, phone number: 0979123319 to report and provide more information for investigation and handling.

Previously, in Dong Nai province, a young man also claimed to be the Director of the Government Inspectorate when passing through many COVID-19 checkpoints.

Specifically, on the afternoon of August 31, 2021, Trinh Dinh Hai (33 years old) and another person drove through the epidemic control checkpoint in Trang Dai ward, Bien Hoa city, and were asked by the police to stop the car for inspection.

Hai dressed as an inspector, claimed to be "Chief Inspector of the Government Inspectorate", presented his "Deputy Head of Post-Inspection Processing Department, Ministry of Health" card and asked the authorities to let him into the blockade area. He also presented a travel confirmation issued by the People's Committee of Trang Dai Ward, Bien Hoa City, with the content "epidemic prevention and control supervision".

Seeing that Hai was acting suspiciously, the authorities took him to the headquarters and determined that he did not work for any inspection agency. Hai admitted to impersonating and buying the uniform, shoulder pads, hat, name tag, and inspection card online for 4 million VND.

Checking Hai's two houses in Tam Hiep and Trang Dai wards, police discovered many other inspector uniforms and fake documents.
