Arrested man in Thanh Hoa for speaking ill of Party and State leaders

On November 4, Thanh Hoa Provincial Police said that Nhu Xuan District Police had just initiated a case, prosecuted and temporarily detained Bui Van Tuan (born in 1983, residing in Binh Luong Commune, Nhu Xuan District) for the crime of abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State and the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals.

According to the police, on September 1 and 7, Tuan used a Facebook account named "Tuan Dung" to livestream cursing and make false, distorted, slanderous, insulting, and defamatory statements aimed at discrediting the reputation, honor, and dignity of a number of high-ranking leaders of the Party, State, and officials in Nhu Xuan district.

In addition, on the livestream, Tuan also incited, incited, and attracted a large crowd to obstruct the activities of agencies and organizations during the construction process in Nhu Xuan district.

From the collected information, documents, and videos, Binh Luong Commune Police and the Investigation Police Agency of Nhu Xuan District Police conducted a request for appraisal of the content of the videos that Bui Van Tuan posted on Facebook.

Based on the acts, nature and level of violations of Bui Van Tuan, the Investigation Police Agency of Nhu Xuan District Police initiated a case, prosecuted the accused and temporarily detained this man for the above crime.

It is known that Bui Van Tuan has many criminal records and often gets drunk, swears at people around him, causing outrage among the public.

In particular, when the government implemented the project to build and install the power line from G38-DC, including the expansion of the 220Kv Nong Cong substation. The 220Kv Nam Sum - Nong Cong substation passes through Bui Van Tuan's house. Although he was compensated appropriately as requested, Tuan still frequently demanded, blackmailed, and obstructed construction activities.
