The scene of the fire
Gathering evidence at the suspect Tan's house.
The suspect Tan at the police station.
According to initial information, at approximately 1:45 AM on March 29th, Ms. Nguyen Thanh Dieu (born in 1978, residing in the same neighborhood) was sleeping when she heard a loud noise from the neighboring house. She woke up and checked her security camera footage, seeing Tan throwing a flaming object at the house of Mr. Nguyen Van Luc (born in 1961, her neighbor). After throwing the object, Tan went inside. At this time, Ms. Dieu came out of her upstairs bedroom to check and discovered the fire in front of Mr. Luc's house, so she shouted, "Fire! Help!" to alert everyone to put out the fire.
Upon receiving the information, the ward police, militia forces, and the Fire and Rescue Police quickly arrived at the scene to assist in extinguishing the fire. Due to its location in a narrow alley and the house's structure being made of wood and flammable materials, the fire spread rapidly, completely destroying Mr. Luc's house and also affecting two neighboring houses due to scorching.
After receiving the report, the My Phuoc Ward Police recorded the crime report and proceeded to take statements from the informant, related parties, witnesses, and extracted footage from security cameras at the scene. A search of Tan's residence revealed he was not home. Therefore, the ward police are currently searching for and have apprehended Tan, who is hiding in the My Xuyen ward area.
At the police station, the suspect admitted to throwing fire at Mr. Luc's house, causing the fire. It is known that Tan is a drug addict.
