On January 8, the Government Inspectorate announced its decision to inspect the Bach Mai Hospital 2 project and Viet Duc Hospital 2 project in Ha Nam.

Inspection period from 2014 to 2024

According to the announced decision, the inspection period for the two projects of Viet Duc Hospital and Bach Mai Hospital, Branch 2, is from January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2024. If necessary, it can be considered before or after the above period.

The inspection period is 40 working days from the date of announcement of the inspection decision.

The inspection team has 11 members, including Mr. Ngo Dinh Long, Deputy Director of Department III of the Government Inspectorate, as head of the team.

8 days ago (afternoon of December 31, 2024), Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission Dang Van Dung said that at the 27th meeting of the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negativity, General Secretary To Lam requested to conduct an inspection of the Bach Mai Hospital project, branch 2, and Viet Duc Hospital, branch 2 in Ha Nam.

Inspection conclusion before March 31

According to Mr. Dung, the General Secretary requested that the inspection conclusion for these two projects be made before March 31, 2025. After that, measures must be immediately implemented to put these two hospitals into use, and cannot be delayed any longer.

At the end of 2014, the second facility of Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Hospital in Phu Ly City (Ha Nam) began construction and is expected to be the two largest modern hospitals ever built.

This is also the first time our country has a hospital built and operated according to international standards.

In October 2018, the examination areas of both facilities were officially inaugurated.

However, after that, only the examination area of Bach Mai Hospital was put into use for a period of time from March 2019 to March 2020, then announced a temporary suspension of operations.

Meanwhile, Viet Duc Hospital, branch 2, only stopped at the ribbon cutting ceremony and has never received any patients.

The two hospitals have a scale of 1,000 beds/hospital; floor area of 100,000m²/hospital. Total investment is nearly 5,000 billion VND/hospital.

Regarding the two abandoned and wasteful projects of Viet Duc Hospital and Bach Mai Hospital, Branch 2, Minister and Head of the Government Office Tran Van Son said that at the regular meeting on the morning of November 9, 2024, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested that these two hospitals must be completed and put into use within the next 6 months.

At several National Assembly sessions, many delegates expressed their opinions that we cannot let wasteful projects "stay indifferent to time", and recommended that the Viet Duc and Bach Mai Hospital projects, branch 2, be put into use soon.
