According to Reuters (UK) estimates, in June 2024, Russian Gazprom Group exported an average of 81.8 million m³ of gas per day to Europe, up 23% over the same period last year.

In total, since the beginning of the year, Gazprom has exported about 15.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Europe.
In May, Russia surpassed the US in gas exports to Europe for the first time since the start of the special military operation in Ukraine in February 2022.
Notably, this comes despite efforts by the European Union (EU) to limit the country's imports of fossil fuels.
“It is surprising that Russia’s gas market share in Europe has increased significantly, despite all efforts to reduce dependence on energy supplies from this country,” said Tom Marzec-Manser, head of gas analysis at commodity information company ICIS.
The EU was Gazprom's largest and most lucrative foreign market before Russia launched its military campaign in Ukraine.
After the military campaign, Europe cut off gas imports from Russia through pipelines and replaced them with liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States.
In September 2023, the US surpassed Russia as Europe's gas supplier. From 2023, Washington's gas and LNG will account for a fifth of the continent's energy supply.
* In a related development, recently, a Gazprom spokesman said that the volume of Russian gas supplied to Europe through Ukraine is 42.4 million m³ per day.
The transit route through Ukraine remains the only route for Russia to supply gas to Western and Central European countries.
Gas pumping through the Nord Stream pipeline has been completely suspended.
