Việt NamViệt Nam09/04/2025

Taking advantage of the sunny weather, Mr. Co Huu Chi, Ban Mung village, Tan Duong commune, Bao Yen district, went to visit the fields again. This year, the cold weather came later, so the planting was also slower than in previous years. This greatly affected the resistance of rice to pests. Mr. Chi shared: "Seeing the rice plants being infected with worms and yellow leaves, I bought medicine to spray, so that the plants could take root."

This year, the weather got colder later so planting was also slower than every year.

Bacterial leaf blight and bacterial streak disease are caused by bacteria. The lesions are yellow to white, first appearing at the tip or sides of the leaf, then gradually spreading to the leaf blade. If the disease is not prevented and treated promptly, it will cause the rice leaves to dry out, lose the ability to photosynthesize, and significantly reduce productivity.

Mr. Co Van Chieu, Ban Mung village, Tan Duong commune, Bao Yen district said: "I regularly visit the fields to detect and have initial treatment plans. I buy Basu medicine to spray on the rice plants."

Agricultural extension officers check spring rice for pests and diseases.

This spring crop, Bao Yen district planted nearly 2,500 hectares of rice; early tea is in the tillering stage; main tea is tillering and late tillering; late tea is recovering... Currently, in the changing season, rice plants are susceptible to common diseases such as blast, brown spot, leaf blight... Bao Yen district Agricultural Service Center has coordinated with communes and agricultural extension officers to conduct field inspections, propagate and advise people on timely prevention and control measures, not allowing pests and diseases to spread widely.

Farmers are advised to use the right medicine, avoid spraying it indiscriminately, wasting it and polluting the environment.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Yen, Director of the Agricultural Service Center of Bao Yen district, advised: “People need to actively visit the fields to detect and prevent pests early. Especially when reaching the statistical threshold according to agricultural extension officers, people need to strictly follow the recommended pesticides, avoid spraying pesticides indiscriminately, wasting and polluting the environment.”

Experts also recommend that, in addition to regularly visiting the fields, farmers also need to carefully read the spray dosage on the manufacturer's packaging label, and follow the 4-right principle: "Right medicine; right dosage, concentration; right time; right way" when spraying to prevent and control pests and diseases.
