On April 11, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province held a ceremony to announce the decision to recognize the Long Giao bronze pangolin statue as a national treasure and opened the exhibition of ancient metallurgy in Dong Nai.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Nai province has reported scientific documents and announced the Prime Minister's decision to recognize the Long Giao bronze pangolin statue as a national treasure. The bronze statue is being kept and displayed at Dong Nai Museum, serving the needs of people to visit and learn.
The Long Giao bronze statue is an original, unique, indigenous artifact with a unique form, the only specimen discovered in Vietnam. The value of this bronze statue is not only a beautiful, perfect product with cultural significance that has been passed down to the present day, but also demonstrates the talent of bronze casting artisans in Dong Nai in prehistoric and early historical times through the sophisticated, sharp, meticulous shaping of every detail.
The bronze statue of Long Giao pangolin is cast accurately in form and size from the real model, the head, ears, eyes, beak and scales are all skillfully crafted, precise and balanced.
Vice Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Son Hung highly appreciated the efforts of the cultural sector, collectives and individuals in building the dossier to propose the recognition of the Long Giao bronze pangolin statue as a national treasure.
He suggested that the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism advise the Provincial People's Committee to issue separate regulations and policies to protect and promote the value of national treasures. In addition, the Department needs to develop a plan to protect, preserve and promote the value of treasures; promote and publicize national treasures through specialized exhibitions introducing typical cultural heritages of the province. Relevant parties quickly implement the project to innovate and adjust the exhibition at Dong Nai Museum, digitize relics, and apply technology in exhibitions, especially the exhibition of national treasures.

On this occasion, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Nai province organized the exhibition "Ancient metallurgy in Dong Nai." The exhibition displays more than 100 images of important archaeological sites and more than 200 artifacts demonstrating a flow of metallurgical techniques, bronze casting, and iron forging in the early bronze-iron period in Dong Nai, including the bronze statue of Long Giao pangolin.
The exhibition introduces to the people and visitors the characteristics, role and position of metallurgy in the development of society, related crafts, manufacturing processes, traditional bronze casting furnace models, and bronze casting products in Dong Nai. The exhibition is open free of charge to the people and visitors from now until May 30.
The Organizing Committee awarded Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to collectives and individuals who have made many contributions to research and comments on the scientific dossier of the province's national treasures./.
