Dakrong district is home to a majority of ethnic minorities, mainly the Van Kieu and Pa Ko, with a diverse and rich culture. The Center for Culture, Sports and Physical Training has actively coordinated with relevant agencies to preserve and promote these unique cultural values. Dakrong district currently has 33 ranked relics.
Of which, 1 relic is ranked as a special national relic (Dakrong Suspension Bridge); 2 relics are ranked as national relics (locations crossing Route 9 of Thong Nhat power line and Route 559; relics of locations (6 locations) in Ba Long war zone); 30 relics are ranked as provincial relics. There are 25 provincial relics with steles and plaques; 15/17 relics have completed scientific dossiers; 15/17 relics have completed legal dossiers.
Identifying the important role of propaganda work in raising awareness in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values of the people, in 2024, the Dakrong District Culture, Sports and Tourism Center has built, produced and broadcast over 275 local radio programs, 5 to 6 programs per week on the loudspeaker system from the district to communes and towns. Building hundreds of columns and long reports on the National Target Program on New Rural Development; the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction; preserving and promoting traditional cultural values of the nation...
Thereby, in recent years, the work of preserving traditional cultural values of Dakrong district has achieved encouraging results. This is demonstrated first of all through the investment in construction and putting into use the Traditional Cultural House of Van Kieu and Pa Ko ethnic groups to serve the introduction and display of artifacts; building the traditional long house of the Pa Ko ethnic group in A Ngo commune; restoring 16 traditional stilt houses of the Van Kieu ethnic group in Dakrong commune. Along with that, many traditional festivals of the Van Kieu and Pa Ko people have been restored and preserved such as: A Rieu Ping Festival (drawing horses), A Da (celebrating new rice), Pru Bor (praying for a good harvest)...
Traditional musical instruments such as gongs, drums, panpipes; ta lu lute, folk melodies such as: oát, xà nột, ca loi - cha chap,xêng... are respected and preserved. The whole district currently has hundreds of gongs and cymbals kept in households, with 11 traditional festivals, 20 musical instruments and over 6 unique folk melodies included in the conservation and development category. The district maintains gong teams that have participated in many international gong competitions in the Central Highlands, the cultural village of Vietnamese ethnic groups and major cultural activities of the province and district, which are highly appreciated.
The Bru-Van Kieu writing system is widely taught to all subjects. In addition to preserving cultural values in the community, local authorities have had many policies calling on organizations to support ethnic minorities to organize training courses, train Bru-Van Kieu language teachers, traditional musical instrument artisans, gong artisans, brocade weaving... to preserve and pass on traditional cultural values to future generations.
Along with the restoration of traditional festivals, the Dakrong District Culture, Sports and Tourism Center also contributed to the successful organization of traditional cultural and artistic activities such as the first and second "Cultural - Sports - Tourism Festival of Ethnic Groups" with many activities of rich content and forms such as: Art program with the theme "Dakrong Festival" with the participation of many artisans from the Ta Rut Commune Gong Team; performance of traditional costumes of ethnic groups; traditional culinary festival; sports activities, introduction of local products; exhibition introducing the land and people of Dakrong; highland fair at Klu Community Tourism Area...
The Cultural - Sports - Tourism Festival of Dakrong District's Ethnic Groups is a particularly meaningful activity, bearing the district's own identity. This is also an opportunity for Dakrong District to honor the historical traditions and cultural identities of Dakrong's ethnic groups, educate the tradition of patriotism, promote the combined strength of the great national unity bloc; is an opportunity to promote and introduce the local potential and advantages in developing community tourism, calling for promotion and investment promotion, contributing to the increasingly sustainable development of Dakrong.
In addition, the Dakrong District Sports and Culture Center has actively contributed to the development of the mass sports movement. The movement "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" has been promoted, with the number of people participating in regular physical exercise and sports increasing. 100% of communes and towns in the area have planned land for physical exercise and sports facilities, creating favorable conditions for people to participate in exercise. The Center has also organized and participated in many district and provincial sports competitions, achieving many encouraging results.
The achievements of the Dakrong District Cultural, Sports and Physical Training Center have made an important contribution to improving the cultural and physical life of local people. Through activities to preserve traditional culture and develop the physical training and sports movement, the center has actively contributed to the sustainable development of Dakrong District, preserving and promoting the national cultural identity in the community.
