Located in the Northeast of Quang Ninh province, Cam Pha is a land of many layers of sedimentary cultural heritage, people, natural resources, of which coal resources are prominent with diversity and richness in both quality and quantity. Therefore, the Cam Pha area began to exploit coal very early - right from the end of the 19th century, and gradually became a major coal production center of Quang Ninh and the whole country. This largest coal mining center in the country is also one of the cradles of the revolutionary movement of the Vietnamese working class in the early years of the 20th century with the General Strike of more than 30,000 miners in November 1936 and the invaluable spiritual heritage of "Discipline and Unity".

After more than 180 years of formation and development, the Coal industry and its The previous generation of miners created and left behind many relics valuable for the Cam Pha mining area. Currently, Cam Pha is the locality that accounts for the majority in both quantity and value of coal industry relics in Quang Ninh province with 4 relics, of which 3 relics are ranked as National (Souvenir site of Uncle Ho visiting Deo Nai mine on March 30, 1959, Crossroads to Deo Nai mine (where the General Strike began in 1936), anti-aircraft artillery site - Poóc Tích Bridge No. 1 - Command bunker of Cua Ong Coal Selection Enterprise), 1 relic is recognized as a provincial relic (Mong Duong vertical well furnace). In addition, the city also has works associated with the development history of the coal industry such as: Traditional House of Deo Nai Coal Company, Cam Pha Coal Region Memorial Area (including the Office of Vavasseur - a French agent, the mansion of the owner and the hospital during the French period), 12/11 Square...
In order to preserve and promote the values of relics, works and locations associated with the coal industry, as well as the construction and development process of the city, in recent years, the city has coordinated with the coal industry to effectively manage and promote the values of the industry's relics in the area and achieved remarkable results.
The city has determined that promoting the traditional values of "Discipline and Unity" of the Mining region is always the consistent orientation, the red thread in the work of developing the culture and people of Cam Pha. To specify that policy, the Party Executive Committee and the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee have issued resolutions, programs and plans to implement Resolution 21-NQ/TU dated May 20, 2019 of the City Party Executive Committee on "Strengthening and improving the quality and effectiveness of education on traditions and history of local Party Committees in the city for the period 2020-2025"; Resolution No. 28-NQ/TU dated December 14, 2022 of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee on "Managing, preserving and promoting the value of relics and scenic spots in Cam Pha city until 2025, with a vision to 2030"; build coordination regulations between the Coal Party Committee and Cam Pha City Party Committee; build Project on management, conservation, restoration and promotion of the value of relics and scenic spots in Cam Pha city until 2025, with a vision to 2030...
The management and promotion of values are given due attention. In particular, after being ranked, the relics are zoned for protection, and scientific management records are established; 4/4 relics of the Coal industry have established a relic management board/team and have assigned specific tasks to members. The units directly managing the relics, specifically Deo Nai-Coc Sau Coal Joint Stock Company - TKV (the unit managing the relic of Uncle Ho's memorial site on his visit to Deo Nai mine on March 30, 1959), Cua Ong Coal Selection Company - TKV (the unit managing the relic of Pooc-tich Bridge No. 1 - Anti-aircraft artillery site - Command bunker of Cua Ong coal selection enterprise), Materials Joint Stock Company - TKV (the unit managing the relic of the Crossroads to Deo Nai mine), Mong Duong Coal Company (the unit managing Mong Duong Vertical Well Furnace) have actively coordinated with authorities at all levels in the work of protecting, exploiting, and restoring the relics. Up to now, the relic site of Uncle Ho's visit to Deo Nai mine on March 30, 1959 has become a red address, a place where the city's Party Committee and government organize incense offerings and report to Uncle Ho on the anniversaries of major holidays and important events... The relics of the Coal industry in the city are not only evidence marking a heroic period in the history of the Mining region but also red addresses educating revolutionary traditions, fostering pride and self-respect for the younger generation; are unique and attractive resources contributing to the development of tourism in Cam Pha city.
However, the relics managed by the Coal industry are mainly located in the production areas of enterprises (except for the Anti-Aircraft Artillery Site), which are "living" relics that directly serve the production purposes of the Companies under the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (TKV), so absolute compliance with safety regulations and rules is mandatory, thus greatly limiting the work of promoting the value of the relics, especially in tourism development, such as the relics: Mong Duong Vertical Well Furnace, Poóc-tích Bridge No. 1, Uncle Ho's Memorial Site on Visiting Deo Nai Mine on March 30, 1959... To preserve and promote the value of the Coal industry relics in the area in the coming time, the city has determined that the Party Committee, the government, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations from the city to the ward and commune level focus on directing the implementation of Resolution 28-NQ/TU of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee with specific plans and programs associated with the implementation of Directive No. 20-CT/TW dated January 18, 2018 of the Secretariat "on continuing to strengthen and improve the quality of research, compilation, propaganda and education of Party history", Resolution No. 21-NQ/TU dated May 20, 2019 of the City Party Executive Committee on "Strengthening and improving the quality and effectiveness of education on traditions and history of local Party committees in Cam Pha city for the period 2020 - 2025" and documents of the Central, the province and the city on the work of preserving, embellishing and promoting the values of relics and landscapes; completing the Project on preserving, embellishing and promoting the values of relics and landscapes in Cam Pha city until 2025, with a vision to 2030; annually conducting inventory and evaluation of the implementation of the Resolutions to ensure the completion of the goals set out in the Resolutions.
The city also focuses on strengthening State management of protecting and promoting the value of heritage and relics; promote effectively, regularly coordinate closely with the Coal industry in managing and promoting the value of relics, in the immediate future actively coordinate with TKV to study the project to restore the relic at the crossroads to Deo Nai mine (focusing on the Traditional Fire-Keeping House project), connect relics managed by the Coal industry, open-pit coal mining sites for tourists to learn about the "Coal" tourism product such as: 12/11 Square, Crossroads to Deo Nai mine, Uncle Ho's visit to Deo Nai mine on March 30, 1959, Cam Pha coal area memorial site, Pooc-tich 1 Bridge - Anti-aircraft artillery site - Command bunker of Cua Ong coal selection enterprise (now Cua Ong Coal Selection Company), National vocational skills assessment center for underground mining occupations... Relic management units continue to do a good job of protecting and promoting the value of relics, allocating appropriate resources to implement the work of preserving and promoting the value of relics according to guidance of competent professional agencies, actively coordinate with agencies and units in organizing sightseeing and learning activities for people, students, tourists... at relics.
At the same time, promote propaganda and widely disseminate to the people, especially the young generation, the meaning, value, and events associated with each Coal industry relic in the area. Thereby, each Cam Pha resident will better understand the traditional history of the Coal industry in particular and Cam Pha in general, especially the close, flesh-and-blood bond "though two but one, though one but two" between Cam Pha and the Coal industry, so that each person is determined, unanimous, promoting the traditional tradition of "Discipline and Unity" to effectively implement Resolution No. 17-NQ/TU dated October 30, 2023 of the Provincial Party Executive Committee "on building and promoting the cultural values, human strength of Quang Ninh to become an endogenous resource, a driving force for rapid and sustainable development", building Cam Pha city to be increasingly rich, civilized and modern.
