Possessing a treasure trove of valuable cultural heritage is considered an advantage for the development of Thanh tourism. The tourism industry and localities in the province have paid attention to preserving and effectively promoting the value of heritage, turning heritage into an attractive cultural - tourism product and attracting a large number of tourists to visit and explore.
Traditional stilt houses contribute to the development of community tourism in Thach Lap commune (Ngoc Lac).
Known as the land of "sacred land and talented people", Tho Xuan has a valuable historical and cultural relic system with 244 relics and relic sites inventoried. Of which, 55 relics are ranked as typical with 2 special national relics (Lam Kinh special national relic and Le Hoan temple special national relic). These are not only evidences of the golden historical dynasties but also unique architectural and artistic works, preserving many precious artifacts. Besides the "massive" historical and cultural relic system, Tho Xuan is also a land associated with many major festivals such as: Lam Kinh, Le Hoan, Xuan Pha village... Along with that, the district also preserves unique folk games and performances of the Kinh and Muong ethnic groups such as: Xuan Pha games - national intangible cultural heritage; Pon Pong, gongs, and bamboo dances.
To preserve and promote the value of cultural heritages, Tho Xuan district has issued a project to restore, preserve and promote the value of cultural heritages associated with tourism development. At the same time, the district has promoted socialization, attracting resources to restore, embellish and prevent degradation of relics and maintain games and performances. In 2023 alone, the district had 8 relics restored and embellished; 8 relics were approved for restoration and embellishment. Games and performances such as Xuan Pha, Pon Pong, gongs, and mam are supported with funding to preserve and promote their values. Along with that, Tho Xuan district has built tourism products, connecting tourist spots, tours, and routes associated with relics and cultural heritages to create attractiveness for tourists.
Although there are not many historical and cultural relics like Tho Xuan, Ngoc Lac is blessed with majestic and poetic landscapes and ethnic communities that still preserve many traditional cultural values. These things have made Ngoc Lac an attractive community tourism destination for many visitors. Coming to Thach Lap, visitors will be immersed in the majestic and wild nature of Gio cave, Cha stream, Hich hill, Trem hill or admire the ancient stilt houses lying peacefully under the green forest canopy. In particular, visitors will experience the life of the Muong ethnic people here, immerse themselves in the love songs, gongs, Pon Pong or enjoy local dishes, bitter soup, bamboo rice, five-color sticky rice, sour fish...
Chairman of Thach Lap Commune People's Committee Pham Van Huy said: “The commune has mobilized people to join hands in preserving national cultural values. Up to now, the whole commune has preserved more than 800 traditional stilt houses. Most people know and practice folk art forms. Many households still maintain the traditional profession of brocade weaving and weaving. At the same time, the commune has established a folk club to preserve cultural values and serve community tourism activities; mobilize people to do community tourism. Thanks to that, the commune has been gradually developing community tourism, creating a lever for local socio-economic development.”
Xuan Pha Play contributes to preserving cultural heritage values associated with tourism development.
Many other localities have also considered the conservation and promotion of heritage associated with tourism development as a key task, contributing to socio-economic development. For example, Thieu Hoa district identifies cultural and spiritual relics and traditional craft villages as tourism highlights. Ba Thuoc district focuses on preserving the cultural values of ethnic groups such as weaving, cuisine, and folk games to develop community tourism...
In order to turn cultural heritage into an attractive tourism resource for tourists, Thanh Hoa province has issued many programs and plans such as the Program for preserving and sustainably promoting the values of Vietnamese cultural heritage in the province, period 2022-2025; Plan for preserving, renovating, restoring and preventing degradation of historical and cultural relics in Thanh Hoa province, period 2022-2025; Thanh Hoa tourism development program, period 2021-2025... The provincial culture, sports and tourism sector is also interested in implementing the inventory of relics and cultural heritages; making a list and scientific records of relics. In addition, the province and the culture, sports and tourism sector have also devoted resources to renovating, preventing degradation of relics, preserving and promoting the values of cultural heritages.
From 2023 to now, the province has added 7 more intangible cultural heritages to the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List; 4 gate areas of the Ho Dynasty Citadel Heritage Site have been excavated; 40 historical and cultural relics have been restored and embellished. Many historical and cultural relics and scenic spots have been restored and embellished; becoming attractive tourist destinations, contributing to promoting socio-economic development in each locality and gradually turning tourism into a spearhead economic sector.
Preserving and promoting the value of heritage associated with tourism development is an inevitable trend, but harmonious exploitation associated with heritage conservation is a big challenge. Therefore, all levels, sectors, localities and people need to raise awareness and responsibility in preserving and promoting the value of heritage and join hands to preserve and promote the values of heritage, so that heritage becomes a sustainable cultural and tourism product.
