In the province, there are currently 2,969 ancient cultural institutions with historical and cultural traces inventoried, of which 732 relics are ranked at special national, national and provincial levels. As assets passed down from previous generations to present and future generations, relics, when properly preserved and promoted, are a concrete manifestation of patriotism and gratitude of today's generation towards their ancestors. At the same time, they are the source and endogenous strength contributing to sustainable socio-economic development.

Honored when the monument is ranked
On March 17, at Quan communal house, Quang Binh commune (Kien Xuong), the ceremony to receive the national relic ranking certificate and the opening of the traditional festival took place amid the joy of thousands of locals and tourists from all over the country. Activities during the 3-day festival such as the palanquin procession and folk games attracted the participation of all classes of people to preserve the traditional cultural beauty of this place.
Dinh Quan is an ancient communal house with a three-part structure, in which the sanctuary was built in the late 18th century - early 19th century, the main hall was built in the early 20th century entirely of ironwood. During the resistance wars, the relic was the site of many important local political events, and a place to organize cultural and spiritual activities to serve the spiritual life of the people.
Mr. Phan Van Luong, Head of the Communal House Festival Committee, shared: The people, visitors from all over the country, and descendants from near and far have contributed to preserving the communal house in its presentable state. All the valuable historical worship items such as the altar, horizontal lacquered boards, parallel sentences, especially the Bat Cong palanquin and the Lord's palanquin over 200 years old, along with many valuable royal decrees, are still preserved in their original state. We hope that together with the Party Committee, the government, the relic management board, and the local people, we will join hands to preserve and protect the traditional communal house that our ancestors left for future generations.
Sharing the joy of the relics in their homeland being ranked, in the past March, the people of An Khe commune (Quynh Phu) excitedly returned to An Quy communal house to attend the ceremony to receive the certificate of ranking as a provincial historical and cultural relic. To show respect and gratitude to their ancestors, the An Quy communal house festival was held for 3 days with folk games such as chess, tug of war, pot smashing, duck catching, and cultural exchanges between villages...
As a son of An Khe who is currently living and working far from home but always making positive contributions to the construction and development of his homeland, Mr. Vu Duc Cung said: An Quy Communal House is a place for cultural activities of the people of An Quy village in particular, An Khe commune, Quynh Phu district in general. This is where everyone thinks about good things, where the merits of ancestors who have contributed to the homeland and the country are remembered. In the development flow of our homeland, we are happy to see that the core traditional values that have been built throughout the history of hundreds of years are still preserved and promoted. We are sons far from home, no matter where we are, we always respect and clearly identify our responsibility in contributing to the construction, preservation and promotion of the good traditional cultural values of our homeland.
The role of community as a subject
According to the inventory of relics, Quynh Phu district is one of four localities in the province with a dense concentration of relics with 487 relics, including 19 national relics and 92 provincial relics.
Mr. Pham Hong Thai, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee, shared: Preserving and promoting the value of relics is not only the work of the management agency but also the common responsibility of the entire community, demonstrating the love and pride of today's generation for the heritage left by our ancestors. From promoting the value of relics and festivals associated with relics, localities will have appropriate solutions to protect relics in a sustainable way.
Emphasizing the important role of the community in ancient cultural institutions, Mr. Do Quoc Tuan, Director of the Provincial Museum, said: Historical and cultural relics in Thai Binh have the common characteristic of being built mainly with traditional materials such as bricks, wood, stone, etc. Over time and years, under the impact of the natural environment, the materials degrade and deteriorate. The relics still exist thanks to the community mobilizing efforts and money to restore and embellish. At any time, the community plays a very important role in preserving relics.
According to Mr. Do Quoc Tuan, for nearly 2,000 unclassified relics in the province, in the coming years, the Provincial Museum will advise the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to survey and compile scientific records to classify relics that meet the criteria prescribed by the Law on Cultural Heritage, creating a legal basis for protecting, preserving and promoting the value of the relics. The management agency will also develop a master plan for the system of relics in the province. This is the basis for plans and projects to preserve, restore and restore each relic, in order to meet the goal of sustainable development of the province's cultural heritages and contribute to improving the cultural life of the community.
In addition to the achievements in preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, informed: The restoration of relics in some localities has not been strictly implemented in accordance with the provisions of the law on heritage, and has been arbitrarily restored without guidance and permission from competent authorities. Each tile, brick, beam, column, carving, sacred animal, mascot, Han Nom heritage document on parallel sentences... are all symbols of cultural symbols, historical witnesses, and the wishes of our ancestors for good things in life. Therefore, when dealing with cultural heritage, we need to be extremely careful, research and consider carefully.
The Resolution of the 20th Provincial Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025, has set the goal of "developing tourism into an important economic sector of the province". With the close participation of Party committees, authorities, functional branches, and the consensus and support of all classes of people, 2,969 ancient cultural institutions, when properly preserved and promoted, will become attractive destinations to promote spiritual tourism and community tourism.
Dinh Quan, Quang Binh commune (Kien Xuong) was ranked as a national monument from 2023.
