Individuals and organizations providing information reflecting traffic violations can be rewarded up to 5 million VND/case.
Decree No. 176/2024/ND-CP regulating the management and use of funds collected from administrative fines for violations of road traffic safety and order and auctioning of license plates after payment to the state budget has just taken effect since January 1.
The notable content of the decree is the regulation on supporting individuals and organizations in providing information reflecting administrative violations of traffic safety order.
In 2025, traffic police will increase handling of traffic violations through information reported by people.
Specifically, Articles 5, 6 and 7 of Decree No. 176/2024 clearly state the content and level of expenditure on funds collected from administrative violation sanctions.
In particular, Clause 3, Article 7 of this Decree stipulates that the level of support for individuals and organizations providing information reflecting administrative violations of traffic safety order in 1 case or incident shall not exceed 10% of the amount of administrative fine, maximum 5 million VND/case or incident.
Thus, from January 1, individuals and organizations providing information reflecting administrative violations of traffic safety can be rewarded up to 5 million VND/case.
Also according to the above decree, from January 1, the allowance for officers and soldiers directly involved in ensuring traffic safety at night will not exceed 200,000 VND/person/shift (1 shift is 4 hours or more, night work time is from 10pm the previous day to 6am the following day), 1/2 shift (2 hours) the allowance will not exceed 100,000 VND/person, maximum 10 shifts/month.
The level of overtime allowance for cadres, civil servants, public employees and other local forces directly involved in ensuring traffic safety and order during the day shall not exceed VND 100,000/person/shift, maximum 10 shifts/month.
For night shifts, the cost does not exceed VND 200,000/person/shift (1 shift is 4 hours or more, night work time is from 10pm the previous day to 6am the next day), half a shift (2 hours) the cost does not exceed VND 100,000/person, maximum 10 shifts/month.
The allowance for officers and soldiers directly involved in ensuring traffic safety and order at night shall not exceed VND 200,000/person/shift.
Explaining the support for individuals and organizations providing information reflecting traffic violations, the agency drafting the decree said that the level of support for this is very important, and many advanced countries in the world are applying it.
In Vietnam, traffic police receive information from people through channels and social networks as a basis for punishment.
If this policy is applied, each citizen will be a link in supporting the police to ensure traffic safety. If necessary, the identity of the person providing information will be kept confidential.
