Implementing Decree No. 21 of the Government, in the past 5 years, the Party Committee and the government of Bao Thang district have led and directed synchronously and effectively, creating a profound change in awareness for departments, organizations, armed forces and people about the defense zone and the strategy of protecting the Fatherland in the new situation. Promoting the combined strength of the entire political system in building the defense zone; the work of building the defense zone has been actively and deeply deployed, political security and social order and safety in the area have been maintained, contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality.

Along with that, Bao Thang focuses on innovation and improving the quality of political and ideological education , training, and education on national defense and security knowledge. In 5 years, 263 cadres of subjects 2 and 3 have been sent to participate in national defense and security knowledge training courses according to the province's plan; over 5,500 cadres have been trained in subject 4. Fully and promptly implement policies for the military rear, policies for people with meritorious services, and social security: built 6 gratitude houses; resolved policies for over 1,700 subjects.

The work of building economic potential, closely combining economic development with national defense and security, is given attention. 100% of the regular force is trained according to the motto "basic, practical, solid"; the reserve force, militia, and self-defense force are built in a strong, widespread direction, with solid political will; the military recruitment work is carried out strictly, in accordance with the law, publicly, democratically, ensuring 100% of the planned targets.

On this occasion, 5 collectives and 10 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Chairman of the District People's Committee for their outstanding achievements in implementing defense zone work according to Decree No. 21/2019/ND-CP.
