(HTV) - The Vietnam Military History Museum - which preserves more than 150,000 valuable historical relics, not only recreates the heroic milestones of the nation but also conveys the aspiration for peace to future generations.
With 80 years of construction and development, the history of the Vietnam People's Army is a treasure trove of valuable knowledge that needs to be systematically and scientifically systematized. This is an important source of information to educate many generations about the process of building and defending the Fatherland.
The Vietnam Military History Museum is one of six national museums, leading the system of museums in the Army.
Launched in November 2024, the Vietnam Military History Museum is one of six national museums, leading the system of museums in the Army, and attracting the attention of a large number of people. This spring, it has become a destination for many families, contributing to honoring the history of the nation.
Built on an area of 386,000 m² with four floors above ground and one basement, the Vietnam Military History Museum is a large-scale, proud project. It houses more than 150,000 artifacts, including four national treasures, each reflecting important historical milestones and the sacrifices and hardships of the entire Party, people and army during the resistance wars.

He emphasized that in the world, there are few nations whose history of building the country is closely linked to the history of defending the country like Vietnam. The country has gone through more than 20 large and small wars with foreign invaders from the North to the West. Having a museum that fully summarizes those historical stages is the desire of the people, researchers, and veterans.
Veteran Nguyen Dong Thai, 85 years old, could not hide his emotion: “I dream of seeing again the historical relics of the Vietnam People's Army. Today, my nephew brought me here. I am very excited to see with my own eyes our MIG aircraft shooting down American aircraft, seeing the wreckage of American aircraft and witnessing the maturity and growth of our army. Peace today is precious.”
Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Dai Viet - Museum staff, introduced a prominent work: “This is the statue 'Southern Soil' by sculptor Pham Xuan Thi. The statue depicts the image of a mother seeing off her son - a soldier who had gathered in the North, with a strong belief: 'This land has only one golden flag'. But it was not until 21 years later that those mothers witnessed the day when the country was reunited.”
Not only does the museum attract older people who reminisce about the past, it also attracts young people. A student from the Diplomatic Academy shared that he was impressed to see many young people coming here to learn about the nation’s history. This made him love and be proud of his country even more.
This is an important source of information to educate many generations about the process of building and defending the Fatherland.
At the end of the tour, Associate Professor, Dr. - Major General Tran Ngoc Long emphasized that the image of doves flying up from the ruins of war symbolizes the desire for peace. This is the message that Vietnam wants to send to all peoples in the world.
In the bustling atmosphere of spring, the Vietnam Military History Museum is not only a place to preserve history but also a symbol of peace, patriotism, and national pride.
