Quang Binh Newspaper transforms strongly in the digital age

After 60 years of development with many different names, on March 27, 1963, Quang Binh Newspaper published its first issue, marking the birth of the mouthpiece of the Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee.

Continuing the tradition of the first revolutionary newspaper named “The Bright Road” from Dong Hoi Prison in 1931, in line with the flow of revolutionary journalism nationwide, Quang Binh Newspaper has gradually risen to make very proud progress, becoming a sharp and effective propaganda tool, a leading shock force on the cultural and ideological front, actively contributing to the cause of protecting, building and developing the homeland of “Two Goods” .

The newspaper's articles and press works have had positive and effective effects on the fields of Party building, protecting the Party's ideological foundation, protecting the regime; encouraging the Party Committee, government and people of the province to resolutely and successfully implement the resolutions and policies of the Party, the State and the Party Committee and government of Quang Binh province.

In particular, over the past decade, the birth of the Quang Binh Electronic Newspaper and the innovation in the content and form of the newspaper's publications; the diversity and practicality of its special pages and columns have met the information needs in the fields of current affairs in politics, economics, culture - society, national defense - security, entertainment... creating a profound influence on the hearts of readers.

Entering a new phase, facing the strong development of the fourth industrial revolution, to meet the political tasks of the Provincial Party Committee and the needs of readers, Quang Binh Newspaper has constantly strived, innovated, and strived to better fulfill its noble mission.

According to Editor-in-Chief Dinh Tung Lam, digital transformation of journalism is an inevitable trend, the survival of journalism, including Quang Binh Newspaper. We must bravely face weaknesses and stagnation, and strongly innovate, so as not to be left behind. Changing technology and equipping means can expect help, but thinking and passion for creativity must come from our own team. With that perspective, entering the stage of the 4.0 industrial revolution, Quang Binh Newspaper and especially the editorial office have made strong, comprehensive innovations, focusing on quality, and making efforts to enhance the newspaper's brand, focusing on three main factors: technology, content and people.

Before each issue of propaganda about important events, the Quang Binh Newspaper editorial office is always proactive and quick in developing plans and implementation strategies.

Quang Binh Newspaper has focused on investing in new facilities and technological equipment: Replacing old machinery and equipment with modern machinery and equipment, putting into use an electronic editorial system, eliminating manual publishing steps, and making the most of new editorial technologies. Since April 2022, Quang Binh Newspaper has innovated the presentation method, printing 2 pages in color for the daily newspaper issue, and the electronic Quang Binh Newspaper has renewed its interface in a more modern and eye-catching direction, creating excitement and appeal for readers. Thanks to that, readers can access information more quickly and conveniently, the newspaper always plays a leading role, orienting public opinion, and maintaining information sovereignty in the province's cyberspace.

At the same time, the Newspaper constantly innovates its thinking, processes, and methods of information processing in a modern direction, the quality of its specialized pages and columns is improved on the basis of closely following the political tasks of the province and promptly capturing and orienting the needs of readers as well as the development trends of journalism in the 4.0 era. Many new columns have been opened such as: "Life Scenes" , "Quang Binh People from All Over the World" with interesting, multi-dimensional perspectives on the life and people of Quang Binh, along with many old columns "dressed in new clothes" according to the breath of the times.

The editorial office also proactively coordinated the implementation of specialized pages on current issues, series of articles on major political events of the country and the province such as Joining hands, unanimously defeating the COVID-19 pandemic, Celebrating the 110th anniversary of General Vo Nguyen Giap's birth; Celebrating the 65th anniversary of Uncle Ho's visit to Quang Binh. In particular, most recently, the specialized page on opening tourism, bringing OCOP products to the market was deployed, creating a new highlight for the newspaper.

In addition, if in the past it only republished publications in print newspapers, now Quang Binh Electronic Newspaper has built its own columns and topics, converging both print and television newspapers and strongly developing emagazine, infographic, multimedia, online dialogue, etc. Thanks to keeping up with digital media and applying technology to improve the quality of publications, the newspaper has achieved many remarkable results.

Quang Binh Newspaper received the Third Class Independence Medal in 2011.

No matter how developed technology is, if there is no human resource with enough skills to control and use it, that creativity and innovation will become meaningless. Realizing this, the staff, editors, artists, technicians, and employees of the Newspaper are always focused on training and are increasingly professionalized and specialized in a synchronous manner. Gradually overcoming the situation of waiting and relying on direction, promoting the creativity and initiative of reporters and editors. Thereby, improving the quality of editing and innovating the form of presentation.

The requirements for editing are not only accuracy and speed, but also the preservation of each author's individuality in each work. Therefore, the exchange, learning, and sharing of experiences and skills among the editorial team and editorial board leaders must be carried out regularly, continuously, and promptly.

Not only being trained and retrained in professional skills, the officers, reporters, editors and staff of the Newspaper are also increasingly proficient in digital tools, have new ways of thinking, working and approaching, creating different and more effective results, meeting the increasingly high requirements of revolutionary journalism in the new period. Many reporters of Quang Binh Newspaper have continuously won awards at the National Press Awards, ministerial and sectoral press awards in the Central and provincial levels.

Frankly acknowledging and pointing out the newspaper's shortcomings and limitations, Editor-in-Chief Dinh Tung Lam affirmed: Anticipating all difficulties and understanding oneself is the only way to move forward.
