Recently, writer Katie Lockhart of the New Zealand newspaper NzHerald wrote an article sharing interesting experiences and giving suggestions for international tourists to explore Hoi An - which she considers the most beautiful city in Vietnam.

Describing the beauty of Hoi An, Katie Lockhart praised: “Hoi An is one of the most beautiful destinations in Vietnam and is well worth a visit. This ancient ‘yellow street’ is deeply engraved by history, by its distinctive colors and charm.”

When the sunlight shines on Hoi An, the ancient town glows with a golden color like a field of ripe rice. Once a bustling trading port, Hoi An has many wonderful things that attract tourists from all over the world. The special thing here is the yellow color of the walls in harmony with the brown color of the tiled roofs, with the highlight being the colorful lanterns, decorating each house, both stained with time but also sparkling and outstanding.

The streets in the old quarter are like a maze, before visitors' eyes are tailor shops, souvenir shops, restaurants, cafes with interesting views of the street. When night falls, drifting along the poetic Hoai River, the boats are brightly lit with countless lanterns, the water surface reflects the light of flower lanterns.

And besides the journey to explore the ancient town of Hoi An, there are still many attractive and interesting things for tourists to admire and experience, from the vast rice fields to the wild and charming beaches. Below are the attractive activities that Katie Lockhart suggests for travel enthusiasts when coming to this beautiful land.

If you have been to bustling, bustling cities like Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An brings a sense of peace, taking visitors away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. Therefore, let's follow nature and embrace the comfort, peace and feel the moments of "slow living".

Not far from the old town are vast rice fields swaying in the wind. Cycle along the road running through the rice fields, admire the nature, watch the local farmers at work…

Sip coffee

Like most other destinations in Vietnam, Hoi An's cafes boast stunning views and scenery. There are countless places to sit and enjoy a coffee, the author suggests visitors try coconut coffee, salt coffee, and iced milk coffee.

Enjoy the fun at the beach

When you need to cool off, head to Hoi An’s beaches. Stretching all the way to Da Nang, there are many beaches for visitors to choose from such as Cua Dai, An Bang, Ha My, Cu Lao Cham... You can immerse yourself in the cool water, sunbathe on the beach and enjoy freshly picked coconuts.

Souvenir shopping

Hoi An’s fabric has a long history and is an indispensable part of the place. This ancient town is also famous for its many traditional tailor shops.

If you only have one day in Hoi An, then the instant designer clothing stores are the perfect choice. Visitors will be able to choose the fabric, color, have it tailored to their exact measurements and only need to wait a few hours to own a unique outfit of their own.

Enjoy world famous street food

From banh mi to cao lau, Hoi An is a favorite for its delicious cuisine and bustling eateries. Although there are many options, food lovers should not hesitate to ask the locals for recommendations of reputable, quality eateries and Hoi An’s signature dishes.

Coming to Hoi An, visitors can not only enjoy delicious dishes but also participate in Hoi An food tours, take part in interesting cooking courses, experience going to traditional markets, picking vegetables, and listening to introductions to famous local dishes...
