At the invitation of General Secretary and President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Thongloun Sisoulith, on the morning of July 11, President To Lam and a high-ranking delegation of the Party and State of Vietnam arrived in Vientiane to begin a state visit to the Lao People's Democratic Republic from July 11-12.
On this occasion, many major newspapers of Laos published articles praising the bilateral relationship and welcoming the visit of President To Lam and the Vietnamese delegation.
The July 11 issue of Pasaxon newspaper solemnly published an article about President To Lam's visit on its front page, with the title "Continuing to strengthen and nurture the special solidarity relationship between Laos and Vietnam, Vietnam and Laos."
The opening article emphasized that Laos was the first country in Mr. To Lam's foreign affairs activities as President.
This demonstrates the importance of the Party, State and people of Vietnam as well as Mr. To Lam to the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam, Vietnam and Laos; affirming Vietnam's consistent policy of attaching importance to and prioritizing the development of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
The article also reviewed the context of President To Lam's visit to Laos, which took place when the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam continued to develop well, becoming increasingly profound and effective.
Laos-Vietnam political relations continue to gain trust, closeness, stability and are increasingly close and fraternal.
Defense and security cooperation continues to be a pillar in bilateral relations, contributing to maintaining political stability, security, and social order in each country and the border areas between the two countries.
Economic, trade and investment cooperation is strongly promoted. Cooperation in education, human resource development and vocational training is of special interest to both sides, especially high-quality human resources.
Cooperation in culture and tourism is promoted, especially during Visit Laos Year 2024. Cooperation between localities of the two countries, especially those sharing borders, continues to be strengthened.
The article emphasizes that the two countries closely coordinate on regional and international issues of mutual concern; support each other at multilateral forums, especially at the United Nations, ASEAN and sub-regional cooperation mechanisms.
Meanwhile, on July 11, the Pathet Lao newspaper also published an article "Warmly welcoming the visit to the Lao People's Democratic Republic of Comrade To Lam, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam".
The article emphasized that Laos and Vietnam continue to affirm a consistent foreign policy, especially preserving and promoting the special friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam, and Vietnam and Laos, which is constantly deepening.
Although the regional and world situation remains difficult and complicated, especially the conflict between major powers and economic difficulties; each country still faces difficulties, especially economic and financial ones, the special relationship between Laos and Vietnam and Vietnam and Laos continues to be constantly promoted and nurtured.
The article stated that Mr. To Lam's state visit this time aims to consolidate and promote bilateral cooperation in an increasingly comprehensive and substantive manner, commensurate with the special relationship and comprehensive cooperation, determined to effectively implement the agreements of the high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and States and the cooperation agreements signed in the past.
Before the visit, on July 10, the Pathet Lao newspaper also published an article praising the Laos-Vietnam relationship as a unique relationship in the world.
The article affirms that in the history of international relations, the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam is an unprecedented outstanding model, bringing benefits to the people of the two countries, both in the struggle for independence and freedom and for prosperity in the period of national construction and development.
As General Secretary and President Kaysone Phomvihane once said: “In the history of world revolution, there have been many typical examples of proletarian internationalism, but nowhere has there been, never before has there been such a long-standing and comprehensive special alliance like the Vietnam-Laos relationship. Many generations of Vietnamese children have come to help the Lao people fight for independence and freedom and build a new life, moving towards prosperity and happiness.”
On the same day, July 10, the electronic publication of Champamai newspaper, Champasak province, Southern Laos, also prominently published an article with the title "Continuing to strengthen the great friendship between Laos and Vietnam, Vietnam-Laos".
The article looks back at the traditional cooperative relations between Laos and Vietnam, Vietnam and Laos over the past time. 2024 is the year that both Laos and Vietnam, Vietnam and Laos celebrate the 62nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos (1962-2023) and the 47th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation.
