Reporting at the meeting, Mr. Le Vu Thuong - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade said that the unit had conducted a field survey at Thaco and mechanical manufacturing and processing enterprises in Chu Lai Open Economic Zone and Quang Nam province (143 enterprises in 9 industrial parks and 9 delta districts); preliminarily assessed the current status of enterprises capable of participating in the linkage chain in the province.
The Department of Industry and Trade also works with the consulting unit, the Institute for Strategy and Policy Research in Industry and Trade (Ministry of Industry and Trade) to develop a task outline, project budget, and determine the legal basis and output products of the project; monitor and submit to competent authorities for decision on issuance.
Accordingly, the project's goal is to develop effective policies and solutions for Quang Nam's mechanical and supporting industries to develop and participate deeply in the global supply chain.
Pilot project of policies such as: tax incentives (land tax, corporate income tax, raw material tax); construction of a technical center to support industrial development in the Central region; support loans and technology for enterprises investing in production in Chu Lai Open Economic Zone and Quang Nam province; development of synchronous infrastructure and logistics of seaports, airports, and roads; construction of a business incubator with support in infrastructure, technology, and market from Thaco Industries...
At the meeting, representatives of relevant agencies, units and localities gave their opinions to clarify a number of issues related to the current situation and potential for cluster development; outstanding mechanisms and policies; products and beneficiaries of the project; scope of the cluster...
Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan Thai Binh highly appreciated the Department of Industry and Trade and other departments and branches for actively completing the project outline. At the same time, he said that the project is an initiative of Quang Nam province, which was assigned by the Prime Minister to preside over and coordinate with central ministries and branches to develop; however, Quang Nam encountered many difficulties when developing the project.
