On the afternoon of June 28, Mr. Pham Dang Khoa - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province - informed about the 2024 high school graduation exam and said that he had reported to the National Examination Steering Committee about the error of blurred math exam questions.

According to Mr. Khoa, the 2024 high school graduation exam in Dak Lak took place safely, with no students or invigilators violating regulations.

Regarding the parents and candidates' complaints that some exam codes 119 and 121 of the math exam on the afternoon of June 27 had errors, Mr. Khoa affirmed that there was no error in the exam but rather "an error in printing the exam".

According to him, the organization of printing and copying the exam papers was carried out in accordance with regulations and under the close supervision of the police. However, due to printing large quantities of exam papers on high-speed printers, in a few exam codes, 1-3 questions were printed faintly. This was a technical error, not an error in the exam papers.

Upon verification, some candidates had their exam codes blurred 1-3 questions out of a total of 5 pages of math exam questions. Upon discovery, the test site leaders reported and handled the situation according to regulations by adding backup questions for the candidates to continue taking the test.

However, at some examination sites, this has not been handled and has been reported to the Provincial Examination Steering Committee.

After reviewing, the Dak Lak Provincial Examination Steering Committee reported to the National Examination Steering Committee that about 20 candidates were affected by the error of blurred exam codes for guidance on how to handle the situation.

The 2024 high school graduation exam at the Dak Lak Examination Council has 33 exam sites located in 15 districts, towns and cities. The total number of candidates registered for the exam is 20,934. The Department of Education and Training has mobilized 3,024 staff to invigilate, monitor and serve at the exam sites.

Suggest maximum marks for candidates with blurred exam codes

According to Mr. Khoa, to ensure the rights of candidates, the Department of Education and Training has reported to the National Examination Steering Committee to propose that maximum marks be given to candidates who are truly affected by the error of blurred questions.

Accordingly, if a candidate has a blurred sentence, the score for that sentence will be 0.2 points. Similarly, 0.4 and 0.6 points will be given to candidates who have 2-3 blurred sentences.

"We confirm that this is an unfortunate technical error, causing some questions in 1-2 math exam codes to be blurred. However, we confirm that the math exam was not copied from the main exam, following a strict process," said Mr. Khoa.
