In an article titled Dien Bien Phu Victory - a brilliant milestone in Vietnam's history published on April 21 in Cairo Today , one of the leading prestigious online newspapers in Egypt, Egyptian journalist Ahmed Hassan highlighted the great significance of the Dien Bien Phu victory of the Vietnamese army and people, and assessed that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the country and people of Vietnam are firmly on the path of prosperous development, with many great achievements of historical significance after nearly 40 years of Doi Moi.

According to the author of the article, the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory still resonates to this day, as people across the country celebrate the 70th anniversary of the heroic battle of the Vietnamese army and people under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen Giap.

The victory not only had an impact on Vietnamese history but also changed the world situation, paving the way for national independence movements in colonial and dependent countries. This was the first time in world history that a “colonial army” defeated a professional European army.

The Dien Bien Phu victory not only had great significance for the Vietnamese people but also encouraged and inspired other colonial countries in the world in their journey to fight against aggressive wars and gain independence.

Inspired by the name "Vietnam", colonial peoples in many parts of the world rose up to overthrow colonialism and regain control of their countries, especially in French colonies.

After the battle of Dien Bien Phu, African soldiers returned home carrying with them lessons about the Vietnamese people's war and many of them became soldiers and leaders of the national liberation movement in their homeland.

In 1960 alone, 17 countries gained independence, thus 1960 was called the “Year of Africa”.

The Dien Bien Phu victory also has international historical importance, opening a new era, a new stage in the heroic struggle of colonial peoples to liberate themselves from the domination of British, French, Belgian and American imperialism.

The victory of Dien Bien Phu and the path to independence and freedom of the Vietnamese people encouraged and contributed to opening a bright future for the liberation movement of all peoples in the world.

The Dien Bien Phu victory is a “brilliant golden milestone in history”. The victory directly led to the signing of the Geneva Agreement on ending the war and restoring peace in Indochina; creating the foundation and conditions for the Vietnamese people to move forward to win the resistance war against the US, save the country, liberate the South, and unify the country in 1975.

Today, the country and people of Vietnam are steadily on the path to prosperous development. Vietnam's Renovation process over the past 40 years has achieved great achievements of historical significance.

From a poor and underdeveloped country, the scale of Vietnam's economy today is constantly expanding, with a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 430 billion USD in 2023. In terms of scale, Vietnam's economy ranks 5th in ASEAN and 35th out of the 40 largest economies in the world. Vietnam has become the 22nd largest trading partner globally. Vietnam has left the group of low-income countries since 2008 and will become an upper-middle-income country by 2030 (about 7,500 USD).

Vietnam is considered one of the leading countries in achieving the United Nations Millennium Goals. In terms of foreign affairs, from a country under siege and embargo, Vietnam has expanded and deepened diplomatic relations with 193 countries.

Currently, Vietnam has established comprehensive strategic partnerships or strategic partnerships with all five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, and expanded economic and trade relations with 230 countries and territories. This shows that Vietnam's position and prestige in the international arena are very high, and also demonstrates the viewpoint that "Vietnam is a friend, a reliable partner and an active, responsible member of the international community".
